None, without the manufacturing jobs I don't see anything that could produce that large of a labor force.Originally posted by kidrock View PostI understand what your saying but, that was my point if manufacturing jobs don't come back what kind of long term jobs are going to be created.

That's what I'm afraid of. It's going to be up to us the people to call our Reps and Senators and tell them what Trumps saying we need those jobs Back here for our own survival. Heck with these other countries but, we also need to let these companies know the same thing or else we need to quit buying their products.Originally posted by drano View PostNone, without the manufacturing jobs I don't see anything that could produce that large of a labor force.

Disagree... most people don't stay on a job for more the 5 to 7 years anyway.... I don't know any construction jobs on real projects that would get done any quicker then that anyway... and generally is the economy is picking up, there will always be more construction.... which leads to the ancillary stuff, more construction equipment needs, and trucks and restaurants on clothing stores and on and on.... I know you guys don't like the term "trickle down" but none the less that's how it works...Originally posted by kidrock View PostI agree construction jobs will be the easiest and will produce other jobs but, most will be temporary at best.

what kind of real projects are you talking about?
Don't we need jobs where people work at For 30 years and get a retirement. Construction jobs are great but, they usually can be temporary jobs.
I know quite a few people in construction and They are always going in and out of the unemployment line.
Mud, I'm kind of curious how would they start these construction jobs? Surely not by a spending plan or by raising taxes because, would that not be against the conservative way of doing things.Last edited by kidrock; 03-10-2016, 11:14 PM.

On the retirement question, no... the norm for the average worker in the USA is 5 to 7 years... I didn't make that up, comes from labor relations and stats. Board...Originally posted by kidrock View Postwhat kind of real projects are you talking about?

Private construction, not government construction.... "IF" the economy gets stimulated, construction is an instant starter.. just is.... buildings, dealerships, apt buildings , developments ... and all that extra stuff that goes with it helps the mom and pop outfits and they start to grow and get bigger... Kid trickle down works, always has.....

If trickle down works then what happen the last 40 years? We have lost about every manufacturing jobs to communist countries. Did the capitalist elite class decide that communist countries need to be more powerful so they invested their jobs there? When the capitalist elite decide that the communist countries are to powerful will they come back to the capitalist work force and ask us to send are children to war to fight the communist because they are to strong and are a threat to capitalism? Remember capitalism is profit at all cost. They don't care about you are your community never have never will. All they care about are their little board and how much money they can get off of the population.Haters don't really hate you, in fact they hate themselves because you are a reflection of what they wish to be.

Yeah the norm now might be 5 to 7 years because there are not to many jobs they can work at for 30 years and get a retirement. No why those jobs are now in China, Mexico, ect, ect.Originally posted by mudslinger47 View PostOn the retirement question, no... the norm for the average worker in the USA is 5 to 7 years... Ok so if the economy gets stimulated and just how will the economy get stimulated? And let's say it does those jobs that you say trickle down like retail, food industry are those not the jobs Obama has created already? Remember 240,000 last month and I forget how many consecutive months that is now and still the economy is not doing good so, again what jobs are going to be created that people can work for multiple years. A good paying job they can send their kids to college. A good paying job they can afford health care. A good paying job they can build some kind of retirement off of or get a pension. You know we're talking about the American Dream here.

I have been construction for 30+ years. Everything from running $hit lines, building nuclear power plants, and everything in between.
Fact is every construction trade in the USA is about to have a major problem in the next 10 - 20 years with the average age of construction workers pushing the late 50's to early 60's with not even close enough young trades men/women to fill the positions of those retiring or disabled.
When I joined the Pipefitters there were over 300 applicants for the apprenticeship. The last time we took applications we struggled to get 10.
We're talking free education, raises every year, and full medical, dental, eye benefits along with multiple pensions.
With the Marcellus gas boom in the northeast we have welders and fitters pulling $100k to $250k/year working only 6-8 months.
What is the problem?? Has the younger generation been coddled so much that they feel entitled to everything and don't have to work to get it?
They afraid to get dirty and sweat?
