The largest 1 day sporting event IN THE WORLD, and has been for decades.

The longest running uninterrupted major auto race in the country.

One of the most exciting and competitive races of all major racing events the last 3 years running.

No gimmicks such as lucky dog, waive around, overtime, green-white-checker, phantom caution flags, no bump and run or shoving other cars out of the way to make a pass, etc. (Thank God! Keep all that phony bull$hit in NASCAR where it belongs!)

No NASCAR driver has ever won the Indy 500 but more than one Indy Car driver has kicked ass in NASCAR's premier race.

Spectators do not stand during green flag runs and set down during yellow flag periods (never have understood how NASCAR fans can be that dumb and still find enough money to attend a race, stupidest thing I've ever seen at a racetrack).

Very little evidence of genetic inbreeding among the spectators at The Indy 500. The same can't be said for NASCAR races, especially in certain geographic areas. LOL!!

And the most satisfying thing to hang ones hat on: tunnel vision NASCAR hacks get very touchy and defensive when all the above is pointed out and made clear to them! LOL!!

Point out the trashing, please. Facts can be rather uncomfortable and sometimes even impolite but they're facts, nonetheless.

You claim no interest in The Indy 500 but you've opened this perfectly neutral, unopinionated thread that Kid innocently started with no malice or ill intent involved about it being sold out. You've read it all the way through and saw fit to repeatedly respond with your tunnel vision fueled disdain for whatever it is you have disdain for.

For a true race fan there has been very little, if anything, concerning the Indy 500 of recent years to find fault with. Like it or not it is neither insignificant or boring, at least not to true race fans that appreciate a great show for what it is, and what it has been in recent years.

The EXCITEMENT is building now that the Indy cars are scheduled to race at Watkins Glen on Labor day in lieu of the cancellation of the race in Boston !! The last good NASCAR show there was the race where Jaun Paul Montoya manhandled Harvick after a crash.

We're in complete agreement in regards to more Americans. I have never understood A.J. Foyt hiring so many foreign drivers over the years. A.J. is the consummate American patriot, vehemently fought the advent of the European rear engine design cars at Indy but seldom gave an American driver a shot at a ride in his cars. Donny Beachler from Springfield, Illinois is the only American driver that comes to mind besides A.J.'s family. There are probably more but I can't recall them.

Again, the truth can be impolite. Sitting down during green flag segments is basic common sense (and common courtesy) akin to coming in out of a pouring rain storm. If one does not possess even that degree of common sense then the fact that they have access to sufficient disposable income to afford to attend a NASCAR race is truly baffling.

We're not a big road course fan regardless of the genre of race car but we hope that the Indy Cars put on a good show at Watkins Glen. What worries me about that deal is that Indy Car has crawled into bed with ISC in the past and got it stuck squarely in their dumper. Indy Car no longer at chitcagoland speedway is one of the best examples. Hopefully that is not the case at Watkins Glen.

I really loved watching J.P. back ol' Harvick down at the Glen. All we heard leading up to that incident is how rough and tough Harvick was but he wanted no part of Montoya. Then, after he gets back to the garage area with his RCR body guards nearby he says he's gonna' kick ol' J.P.'s ass. Well son, you just had your chance and you backed down!! LOL!

YES SIR ! harvick went running away like a litte meek puppy dog with its tail in between its legs. And the best part of the whole deal was that Montoya had nothing at all to do with the crash !!!
