Hows come when Dale Jr. won a fuel mileage race at a common Michigan race everyone was agog about his extreme driving skills but when somebody just plain outsmarts everybody at the biggest racing stage in the world against the most awesome racing cars in the world people try to write it off as ho hum? Anybody that has watched the taxi series in the gimmick era knows that there have been several races that would have ended up as gas mileage events but by virtue of whoever was leading and whoever the sanction wanted to win the famous debris caution was thrown to change the outcome of the event. Why are they ragging on about an honest win in an honest series where the officiating doesn't determine the outcome ?

Not sure about Dale Jr or his fans maybe one can answer that for you. Hey have you heard yet if indy is going to be getting anymore seats from some of their other races when no one shows up?Originally posted by Raceready View PostHows come when Dale Jr. won a fuel mileage race at a common Michigan race everyone was agog about his extreme driving skills but when somebody just plain outsmarts everybody at the biggest racing stage in the world against the most awesome racing cars in the world people try to write it off as ho hum? Like i said to bad the indy race at to come down to fuel but, doesn't mean it wasn't a good race because, it was I just cant go as far to say it was a great race.
I guess what some dont like when a guy that wasn't in contention all day for the win ends up winning the race because of fuel. it doesn't matter what series we are talking about here but, it is part of racing so, a win is a win and they still get the checkLast edited by kidrock; 06-01-2016, 02:17 PM.

Oh yes! We have seen plenty of that of the dominate team all day not being to win because of a slew of mystery yellow flags to tighten the field up and to dictate the eventual winner.Originally posted by kidrock View PostNot sure about Dale Jr or his fans maybe one can answer that for you. Ha, Ha, Ha. well maybe indy can get those extra seats they need from their other races where attendance is very low.Originally posted by Raceready View PostThe ones with no yellows have someone in their favor leading. I have heard of a few of the declining gimmick racing series seats ending up in a dirt track that recently went through a renovation !
Do you think Dale Jr is one of their favorites?

Good grief Litey, it was Memorial Day weekend. At least Obummer was not there making a mockery out of yet another American tradition.Originally posted by old fan View Postthere is a place to for respecting those that died while or after serving our country sorry the race track is not one of them and we know you hate NASCAR we get that and all races should end under green if does not I want my money and will never ever care to see an event from that sanction again if they have time for all the pomp and circumstance they have time to finish and don't about how great the race we saw it on tv , and another thing I would like to see the WHOLE track if I am paying that much for a ticket for honoring the vets oh maybe something like this http://www.rollingthunder1.com/ I know you like large crowds how about 600 k showing up for this one that is 2 indy 500 crowds
You want to see the whole track? Pump your lungs full of helium and float over it!! hahahhahahaa

I've read the speculation concerning the supposed 300,000 at one of the Brickyard 400's. We had tickets to both the 400 and the 500 up until 7 or 8 years ago at which point I couldn't even give the 400 tickets away. We attended both races starting with the inaugural 400 in '94 and I never got the impression that there were as many at the 400 as at the 500. Especially in the infield, the 500 had many thousands more in the infield year after year. The only people that know for sure are the Hulman-George family and their confidantes and none of those folks are talkin'.Originally posted by kidrock View PostOk I will take your word for it but, I was sure there were a couple of years Daytona drew a bigger crowd. Did you know one of the brickyard they drew 300,000 or at least that's what I read
The difference between gimmick racing and the Indy 500 is the 500 has been drawing huge crowds for 100 years and the gimmick racing only filled the place up for a few of the early years until the bloom dropped off the rose bush. You can buy a ticket near where out tickets are for the 500 in the penthouse seats at the end of pit road for the 400 for face price, or less. Tickets near where ours are were selling for in excess of $1,000.00 APIECE for this years race. No one waved 2 large under my nose, if they had they'd have owned our seats. However, I wasn't looking to sell, either.
There are the facts, you be the judge.
I have several friends that winter in Florida and attend the Indy Car race at St. Petersburg and I have a niece in Los Angeles who attends the Grand Prix of Long Beach and those races draw in excess of 100,000 people. In fact, the 2015 Grand Prix of Long Beach had a 3 day attendance of 181,000. The St. Pete race drew over 160,000 for the 3 day event in March of 2016. I read that the race at Barber Motorsports Park drew 80,000 to 85,000 for the 3 day event, and the race at Belle Isle always has a good crowd, too. The oval race at Iowa is near full every year but they only have seating for around 30,000 there. So, to say only Indy is the only venue that draws a good Indy Car crowd is just a bit disingenuous, if not out and out bull$hit. I don't care for road course racing and street racing even less but at least a couple of the street races are pretty well attended in their own right. Why? I don't know but they are.Originally posted by kidrock View PostHa, Ha, Ha. well maybe indy can get those extra seats they need from their other races where attendance is very low.

Now, the ovals at Pocono, Texas and Phoenix aren't that well attended. No disputing that. It's hard to understand because some of the best racing of any kind, anywhere has been Indy Cars at Texas. Chicagoland was also a great race year in, year out. NASCAR basically tossed the Indy Cars from Chicagoland. I believe it was because the Indy Car crowd was getting close to the Cup race attendance, but then again, I might be wrong.

Well I will attest to the fact the a mystery debris yellow has been known to have been thrown many a time just when he was in danger of going a lap down, but then I've seen the same with the girl in the #10 and some others as well.Originally posted by kidrock View PostHa, Ha, Ha. well maybe indy can get those extra seats they need from their other races where attendance is very low. High five Clayton!!! That's some funny stuff right there!!!Originally posted by Clayton_Wetter View Post

Another benefit of the helium filled lungs is the price to see the race is only what the helium costs to get ol' litey off the ground!!! Plus, his voice would sound more normal! LOL!
But he'd have to watch out for the flyover. Those F-18's might think litey is an ISIS dirigible and shoot his ass right out of the sky!! LOLOL!!!Last edited by CIRF; 06-01-2016, 04:30 PM.
