Dirt Track Standout Bryan Clauson At Indy

I talked to Sarah at The Chili Bowl last January. What a beautiful and gracious lady. It was an honor to engage in a conversation with her. I watched her drive full midgets and WoO winged sprint cars and she would mix it up with Steve Kinser and Sammy Swindell without hesitation.

Sarah and her husband built a huge indoor go kart track in Speedway, IN and that is occupying much of her and her family's time. I sincerely hope she somehow is able to be involved in Indy Car ownership again in the future. In my opinion Sarah was the best female driver ever to compete in a major sanctioning body and is good for whatever racing sanction she's involve in!

I would like to see her get back into it as well. Like I said she is good for the sport. Very good a s a driver and very knowledgeable about the sport.

Bryan Clauson is currently 16th fastest with a 4 lap average of 225.226 MPH. If nothing changes that should be good for the inside of 6th row!! WOO HOO!! WAY TO GO BRYAN, YOU MAKE US DIRT TRACK FANS PROUD!!

Glad to see Bryan have a good 4 lap average and have a decent starting spot for the 100 running of the Indianapolis 500. Now if he could have a good finish to cap it off.

Yep, it would be great to see Bryan still be running at the end. His failings in The 500 have not been of his doing. I really believe if Bryan had a competitive car under him he'd be contender for the win.

I believe he would at least have a shot at it. oh well glad he is in the race. you first must start to race if you are going to have any chance of winning it and he's done that.

Bryan Clauson will start the 100th running of The Indianapolis 500 Mile Race from the 28th position. That will put him in the inside of the 10th row.

We'll have our eye on BC throughout the race. GOOD LUCK BRYAN.

All things considered Bryan had a pretty good Indianapolis 500. Started 28th, kept his nose clean all race long and finished with the car running and untouched by wall or fellow competitor. Ended up 23rd 2 laps down. Bryan finished ahead of 3 former winners of 4 Indy 500's and a 2 time pole sitter for the Indy 500!

The highlight of Bryan's 3rd Indy 500 start was Bryan leading 3 laps, one being the 100th lap of the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500. That was cool since it was an American driver who is a megastar of the dirt tracks in midgets, sprints (410 wingless, winged and 360's winged and wingless) and USAC Silver Crown cars would end up being in that position in the biggest race in the world in front of the biggest crowd in the history of the Indy 500.

Agreed CIRF. Bryan had a pretty good day. Would love to see more of these USAC guys in rides for the 500. What a treat watching Rico, or Ballou, or Brady Bacon, or Critter Malone would be. I mean there are so many talented drivers in the USAC divisions right now. I believe that I have read that Ganassi may give Kyle Larson a ride there soon. Can't remember all of the details on that though.

I wonder if Stewart would try it again once he leaves NASCAR. I know I just seen where Kenny Wallace said that Tony was going to race some dirt stuff but, didn't say exactly what that was going to be.

JTT, you're suggesting something that would exponentially increase interest in Indy Car racing and it would seem the owners and sanctioning body aren't all that interested in that happening. I can't imagine the stir that Rico, Ballou, Bacon and Larson would create, even if it was only for the Indy 500. I truly believe Larson will eventually compete in the Indy 500 but it's a long shot for anyone to prepare for two high profile races at the same time. As good as Larson is that still may be a very tall task.

JTT, thanks for the the kind words. We had an unbelievably good time over in Indiana from start to finish. I believe this year was the best ever in regards to the racing we saw and we've been going over there for over 30 years.

Stewart completely ruled out an Indy 500 run following his NASCAR retirement during an interview he did with Robin Miller last January while he was in Tulsa for The Chili Bowl. Stewart freely admitted that he probably couldn't stuff himself into an Indy Car any more. Some speculate that A.J. Foyt lost some of his competitive edge later in his career due in part to the engineers having to build the drivers cocoon wider to accommodate his large size. This may be the case with Stewart, as well.

In that same interview with Robin Miller Stewart said the only race he actively would try to win and have on his resume' is The Belleville Midget Nationals. I go to Belleville every year for the Midget Nationals and would welcome the opportunity to watch Stewart go for the win there. That place it badass and it takes a spot on car combination to be faster than most everyone else.
