So I read today that Hendrick wants Harvic to take over the 5 car in 2017. SHR is going to Ford in 2017, and Harvic is a Chevy guy. Seems like the 5 car has been jinxed forever.

fcg, the five car of late seems to be snake bit from finding victory lane but it hasn't always been that way. One of my all time favorite drivers, "Texas" Terry Labonte won one of his 2 Cup Championships driving the #5 car.

Terry was recently inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame and I'm sure that was in no small part due to his performance while piloting the #5 Hendrick Motor Sports Chevrolet.

Terry is one of the finest men to grace the garage area and racetracks of NASCAR. Next to the word class in the dictionary there is (or should be) a picture of Terry Labonte. One successor to drive the #5 car isn't quite so mannerly or dignified and in a way tarnishes the legacy of the #5. And if Harvick in fact ends up driving the #5 it will further tarnish the legacy Terry built during his time driving it. But hey, that's seems to be the way of sports these days.

Maybe, maybe not, but either way he still couldn't carry Terry Labonte's helmet bag as a driver or especially as a human being!

I don't have a problem with Harvick. Do really no much about Harvick outside of racing to really know what kind of human being he really is?

I also heard that Kyle Larson is a possible contender for that ride.

Why would Harvick want to go to Hendrick and be in the "#4" position at HMS when he is at the top of the food chain at SHR?? Like CRIF posted that #5 car hasn't done crap since Terry left it and there's been some good drivers in it over the years.
I don't buy the loyalty to Chevy BS as race car drivers are the biggest wh0res and turncoats around. I bet Harvick can pretty much get what ever he wants with his close friend Tony.

As far as Larson. I have big doubts IMO that he'll go anywhere other than SHR once his contract is up at Ganassi. That's who Tony wanted in his car but Larson is still under contract I believe till the end of 2017.
I have a feeling Bowyer is going to be a one year deal and Larson takes over in 2018. Plus Tony would support Larson's 410 sprint teams and i'd be willing to bet Stewart and Haas would put him in a ride for the Indy 500.
Heck maybe Haas would give him a shot in the F-1 ride??
The only way I see Larson staying with Ganassi is for him to give him a top notch ride and crew in the Indy 500 for multiple years.

Yeah I can see Larson going to Stewart and I can see Harvick going to Hendricks if he's married to Chevy. Interesting how you put it that Harvick would be number 4. I'm not sure that is how it works at Hendricks but, I guess any things possible.

Here is my take. First off, Larson should go to Hendricks or SHR. He should be the leading candidate. Harvick going to the 5 makes little sense IMO. First off, Kahne's contract would have to be bought out. Next, that makes Hendrick with three drivers in their 40's. Like Harvick or not, he is a great driver, but he has only had real success with Childers. He leaves Childers??? I honestly was surprised when Kahne's contract was renewed. Kahne is an average Nascar driver IMO. With all of this young talent floating around, Some vet drivers are on the block. Then you have Stewart going to Ford. There sits that hugely talented Ryan Blaney. He should be another driver on tony's radar. So we will see. Bottom line, I will be hugely surprised if Harvick leaves. I would have to think Childers would be part of the package.

Hmm, disagree. Harvick is every bit the driver Labonte was. Do not let your personal feelings cloud your judgement. LOL
What you think of him as a person, has nothing to do with how good he is.

Ryan Blaney will be with Penske sooner than later. If i'm not mistaken Penske is pretty much funding and supporting the Wood Bros. #21 Blaney is running now.
