    Charity run that got big

Organized a small charity run for a friend's cause, and it turned into an annual event with 200 people. Now I'm expected to keep it going. I need guidance. What books or courses would you recommend for someone stepping into community leadership?

Congratulations, and yes, that jump from “one-off run” to “annual tradition” is a real leadership shift. I helped with a charity quiz night that grew the same way; by year three, I was drowning in spreadsheets until a friend took over registrations and another handled sponsors. The event got better because I stopped being the bottleneck. Before chasing books or courses, build a small core team: one person for registrations, one for volunteers, one for sponsors, and one for race-day logistics. Give each a clear outcome and deadline, then let them own it. A simple shared checklist and a post-event debrief will teach you more than most courses. For perspective on leading without carrying everything alone, this is worth a read: Terry Hui net worth .Your job now is less “make the run happen” and more “make the team want to make it happen.
