It's typically not very good. I have attended the DTWC for several years in a row but won't be attending this year because of the poor racing. The only chance of the race being decent is if it rains a ton early Saturday. The track prep is pretty sad and Carl puts too many laps on the track on Saturday before the feature so it is locked down before the feature starts.

The last time it was there it was a train race in the feature too.
I like PRP but just better racing at Atomic IMO.
The heats and B's will be worth the trip.

I've been to every DTWC at Portsmouth and really only seen one decent race. By feature time, the track is locked down. But, I'll be there. I love this race, I love the atmosphere. Too many DTWC memories from Pennsboro.

It's hit or miss. The labor day race was awesome, the Dillow race was a snoozer. I went this past weekend and the racing was really good.

If you think that the dust at eldora was bad, don't even bother leaving the house. Prp is sandy, so eldora on its worst day doesn't hold a stick to prp on its best day.

I'd like to see it move back to atomic too, that isn't going to happen. Prp is goldmine with all the camping space and seating.

PRP is a great facility in a great location, but the racing quality should be the #1 priority and PRP just doesn't have it. They should have never made the track bigger. Now the high groove is basically worthless without a cushion because the banking needs fixed, as we saw at last year's DTWC freight train. Sadly all of Carl's shows are turning into freight trains, the Hillbilly was a joke.

I will be honest about the fourth /fifth groove up as been used more this year then in the past...im hoping it will be a good one this year....if I didn't live 30min away I wouldn't attend this but I will have a good time say!

I agree about the racing there. We have went the last 3 years and have decided not to go anymore until the racing is better. I will miss the restaurant downtown called the ribber. The place has the best steak i have ever eaten. We are going to go to the deep fried 75 at duck river or the coors light 100 in mississippi the week after the dirt track.

The last time it was at Atomic the track prep was nothing short of horrible though. In fact most of the tracks this event has been at have not even done no way near a decent job of track prep, but are sometimes bailed out by a lot of rain. Like Bardstown and Atomic both had one time at each track.

Drivers, owners, and promoters care about what is cheapest for them and the fans get the shaft. But they promote and carry on like all is great.

Talking to a promoter will do you zero good, I found that out several times.

I've said that several times that they shouldn't have made the place bigger, it was a racy joint when I was smaller. The top groove has a shelf, it basically goes up and flattens off before it reaches the wall, and even with the type of dirt there, it's hard for a cushion to really develop without a crap ton of rain. I still think just moving those tires up from the bottom a couple car widths would help the racing tremendously, it definitely couldn't hurt it any.

The food, facilities, the people are all great there. It's sad the race is snoozer most of the time, but I'll be there. It's one of my home tracks, and I hardly ever miss this race if I can help it any.
