Your spending 50 dollars to watch a race. Some car owners are seriously spending 500k. Telling them we have to do some absurd format so you and a couple other people can sit there and pull you puds is absurd. The couple people with a lot of money are the ones that drove the costs up. The average racer wishes the costs were back to 1990 levels. Plenty of racers have come from the tail in qualifying formats. Where did Josh Richards start the feature Saturday with this format that makes you cream your jeans ???

There is something wrong with spending 500k to win a 75k championship. If you add up all the fans that pay for a seat at every race and you will find out who is footing the bill. No fans in the stands equals no racing. It's has always been that way and always will. If the fans want the drivers to play Kazoos for the national anthem, they better tune up.Originally posted by hucktyson View PostYour spending 50 dollars to watch a race. The teams lose money without WELFARE from free product the rest of us subsidize. Losing money every year isn't much of a profession.Originally posted by Bubstr View PostThere is something wrong with spending 500k to win a 75k championship. He couldn't be more wrong. Shows with inverts and/or passing points are MUCH better shows than the freight train format. The cream still rises to the top and you actually get to see cars pass one another.Originally posted by ptown View PostWord for word quote from his twitter account.......Passing points suck. I agree passing points suck.

Florence does a single heat passing point format every week. I think it produces some of the best racing you'll see. It would not bother me a bit to see the outlaws or Lucas oil series both do that. What makes the difference, most of their guys get in no matter what to anyway.
I almost bet Dennis Erb would be all for it.

Yep, lol. It’s like Erb can’t turn laps without other cars, he needs some Turismo or Mario Cart Ghost Mode.Originally posted by zyoung25 View PostFlorence does a single heat passing point format every week. Well huck, they used to start the fast guys literally in the back.Originally posted by hucktyson View PostHow did all of you supposed race fans ever start to like
Racing when none of this BS was around till a few years ago ????
Personally, I think a combination of passing points, and qualifying should be used. You start every race heads up, it can be pretty boring. Sorry, just is man.Up in the air who my next “favorite†driver is. Really losing hope on Bloomer getting anywhere back to “normalâ€.

The local tracks that use some form of line ups that put the fast guy in the back, none of you people go to. Support your local track (most are dying btw) and you can see the format you love. National races the cars are so close you don't need gimmicks. Prep a good track and the racing will be good. The big races are 100 laps. The track will go through transition and there will be passing.

Chupp fan, is correct. In the 50s and 60s, they where lined up by track points at most tracks. High points to the rear and the only ones that started behind them, was cars that didn't have so many starts, to eliminate cherry picking. There was very little tour racing, out side of NASCAR, AAA, IMCA and USAC. They ran completely different rules than most tracks.
I can't say I like inverts, but if they invert, only invert in the heats and never invert more spots, than can be made back in the A main. 100laps invert 8 in the heats. 50laps or less, only invert 4. Really the double passing points is the fair way to qualify. LM racing is not about speed, it's about passing. Speed varies, sometimes up to two seconds a lap, during the night. That speed difference is that makes time trials unfair. I can remember going to the World in the early 70s and if you didn't draw a 50 spot or under, you my as well go home, even if you beat the starting grid many times before. This was the day races. Now that was welfare for some.
The thing I don't like about passing points, is there needs to be money for the extra laps.

The last sentence is spot on. If there was a payout for the heats, I have no problem with the format.Originally posted by Bubstr View PostChupp fan, is correct.
