If you’ve never been called Negative Nancy, ya have now. Really not sure wth the big deal is. It’s $200k total purse to start with, he hopes to hit $1 million. Which is realistic. Billion would be unrealistic and just sounds dumb. With the rate tracks are closing because of poor promoters, congrats to Cody. The Dome and Mansfield, he has proven he is trying to really help out dirt racing and make money. Usually the promoters fail to combine the two, he is, and he’s young.Up in the air who my next “favorite†driver is. Really losing hope on Bloomer getting anywhere back to “normalâ€.

In a world of sensational headlines, this fits right in. He wants to pay 1 million, but lacks the juice. I get that. So he is crowd sourcing advertising and the purse. That's fine. Just be more up front about it.Modern Day Spec Wedge Racing

I thought I knew the concept of this event until I clicked on this thread. Holy cow, a few folks have a hole in their marble bag

The only problem with this race that I see is allowing sponsors to put money towards getting their driver in the show. If 50 sponsors pay $10,000 a piece to field their driver then the race would start 50 cars and to me thats just terrible. Arizona sports shirts throwing $50,000 into the pot will expect their sponsored drivers Bloomquist, Kinzer, Lanigan, Wells, Eckert to all be in the field and other sponsors will do the same to get their driver in the field. I could see this race having to start 70 some cars.

How is he not being honest or transparent? Everything is documented. If you think it's possible to raise a Billion dollars for any race on the planet then you have some serious mental issues. A million dollars is not out of the question. What he's doing is no different than asking for lap sponsors, heat race sponsors, victory lane sponsors, etc.Originally posted by MasterSbilt_Racer View PostYou seem to struggle with conceptual arguments. I don't believe misleading is ok just cause you pay out big money. Why not call it the dirt billion?

Wow...that's not how it works. Who in their right mind would even consider for a second that a promoter would let 50 cars start a race? That's just moronic.Originally posted by joshroth14 View PostThe only problem with this race that I see is allowing sponsors to put money towards getting their driver in the show. can people not read or they just too lazy to research the race themselves? these have to be the same people eating tide pods... only the top 4 in sponsor/fan points get a guaranteed provisional..Last edited by jensenracing18; 03-01-2018, 10:29 AM."Running the bottom is like having a job!" ~ Jack Hewitt

Weather permitting, it will be a huge event. I would love to see it. The provisional stipulation is definitely a popularity contest, but it's the promoter's race, and he can do how he pleases.
Side note: at least he is up front about auctioning off provisionals in the A main.. PPMS wasn't so upfront about it last year.

No wonder promoters never like to try anything new...people's reading comprehension skills are so terrible that they'd have to resort to drawing it in crayon so that they can understand. What is wrong with this country's public school system? Nobody can read and comprehend anymore.Originally posted by jensenracing18 View Postcan people not read or they just too lazy to research the race themselves? these have to be the same people eating tide pods... only the top 4 in sponsor/fan points get a guaranteed provisional..

I give Cody great credit for trying this effort, but to me.... the "Dirt Million" is nothing more than a marketing ploy. I understand it's his playground and he can draw the event up as he wishes. but crowd funding for some astronomical purse is just not necessary and comes off as a cheap way of promoting. Don't get me wrong... Crowd funding is great for things such as longest tow, tough luck etc... but not a $1,000,000 show... especially when your local promoter would more than likely kill to get maybe $200 in cash to help out on a special show sometime!

I don't consider buying tickets or shirts "crowd funding". You are getting an item in return for your money. If you choose to donate extra then you're sponsoring the race. This happens all the time across the entire country.Originally posted by DirtWv77 View PostI give Cody great credit for trying this effort, but to me.... the "Dirt Million" is nothing more than a marketing ploy. Its documented if you dig into it. Most folks these days don't go that far. That's why our media works the way they do. Click bait is the name of the game. This race is no different. The name of the race is quite misleading. You have to dig to realize the odds of it being 1 million are slim. You have to dig to realize you can buy a provisional. You have to dig to realize the winner will leave naked with no body on his car. Its a gimmick all around.Originally posted by GEAR_HEAD View PostHow is he not being honest or transparent?
