You can go sim racing for about $800. That’s a computer capable of running iracing, a wheel and pedals, internet, monitor or tv screen and your internet and iracing subscription. Of course like anything you can sink about as much money into it as you want.

I would love to see you actually price that out. I think you're being overly optimistic by quite a bit!

You can get a computer to run it for around $400-500 and then a good steering wheel and pedals for around $200 (Logitech G27 or G29) that a lot of Pro series drivers use. I don't think it's as expensive as people make it sound. Obviously nothing close to a real car.

And if you perform well you can get sponsors just like a real car that at the least will help pay your entries into the big races or pay for your subscription.

Getting the G29 for $200 is a stretch, wheel I have, and $400-$500 I wouldn’t buy it. You’ll just have to upgrade it very soon. I’d spend $800+ on the computer and you’d be good for a few years.

Idk man just dont trust the computers for $. Ive even heard people saying they can put their open setups on their car in a fixed setup race, so theres cheating going on...

Maybe you can. Just seeing how it’s setup makes it really hard to do. On a fixed race you can’t even load a different fixed setup from a track. If you are racing Eldora, it gives you the Eldora fixed setup. You can make like 2 changes and that’s it.

I still believe in a lots practice/experience and how much you wanna spend on a wheel/cpu. Had a $75 wheel, went to a $200 wheel and got a lot better within a week.

Well then. It dropped a lot, I waited and waited, to get it for I think $230 on Amazon. I like it. Yeah a Fanatec is really good, but dang they are $$$.

I don’t think you are out of line. But, iRacing has stuff built in to sniff out cheating. And if you were a lot better, you’d get spotted pretty quick. It’s seat time, set ups, and at times, just being better. I do pretty well in most fixed set races, it’s the open set races if I don’t have seat time or a good set I struggle.

A lot of them guys play a lot, darn near every day. And some have amazing set ups.

Im sure you guys are right and I hope Iracing keeps a close eye, and like you said CnB I think its more setup than you lacking skill, but when we work all week its hard to devote the time to sit on it for hours fine tuning setups...and people are prob just whining about people cheating, but you guys know when $ gets involved, its not below some people especially if they got the capability to hack the game...
