I-80 might be on FB but you have to find someone sending the video. They don't advertise it, done by individuals. I did see all the lates and mod races, 7 heats, fast dash, a couple B-mains and 2 features. Mostly watched because race had a lot of drivers from my area. The Carpenters, Hawkins, Dohm, Montgomery. Might buy I-80 tonight, wasn't paying to watch heats. Not a fan of passing points, inverts, and dashes.

Lucas passing points shows are to me, the best shows they do.

Calling the guy who set the fastest qualifying time "the fastest" is being to kind. Quite often, he was only the fastest on that track condition. He may have even been on the track at the right time.

I truly love the conclusions some of you come too. “ I don’t like passing points”. Oh, so now you wanna give everyone a trophy do ya, lmao, wtf?

Certain races, certain tracks, that format works.(passing points) Some, it does not. The track has to be something you can pass on to have passing points. And if someone doesn’t like it, they don’t. There’s luck involved with the passing points system a whole lot more than there is going out and setting a good time. And you earned your good lap, passing points, you may have a weak heat and start at the back and march to the front. Scoring big points. Just as you catch the track at the right time for your lap. But neither is more or less enabling.

Now, if the track is good, I’m all for passing points, like I80.

I like racing and hate passing points. Reason: I have to clue who’s qualified for what. If there’s 6 heats and top 3 in each heat get in, I know who’s in the show and who’s not.

The passing points, inverts, draw-redraw formats provide MUCH better racing (and it is not even close) than the freight-train, fast cars start on the front formats. I am lucky to live west of the Mississippi river and get to see a lot of good racing.

I don't understand the passing points myself, but I love it...I have seen great racing at the N/S.

Im with ya on the passing point system, particularly the system that I80 is using!

I believe if you start on the front row and win you should get maximum points. I have seen some tracks do it this way!

The double heat passing point format is just your average finish of the two heat races.

Ziegler had a 1.5 average finish for 128 points. This system isn’t hard to understand if you got the basic math skills down. Winning a heat is (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) near a golden ticket to the A main.

Yes, it’s called passing points. But if you actually look at with the double heat format. It’s just your average finish because of the two heats. Ziegler had the highest average so he started on pole. Moyer had 5.0 average despite a heat race win. That’s why he was in the B. He didn’t lose a spot at all Friday.... he just didn’t pass anybody.

And you don’t LOSE points if you fall back. You just get finishing points.

But please continue to educate me about a format you know nothing about.

Ok, you're right technically.
For example, you start in first and get say 10 points for finishing there (just an example of points). If you finish 3rd, you do LOSE points you had where you started.

Passing Points(PP)
Drivers receive PP based on how many spots they advance during their heat. Drivers receive 1.76 points per spot advanced from starting position to finishing position.

Finishing Points(FP)
Drivers receive FP based on their finishing order in their heat race. Heat winner receives 59 points. Second, receives 55. Third receives 51. And so on with a 4 point difference per position.

JMO: if a track is racy, there is no better format than passing points. probably because I despise time trial and straight up starts. there needs to be more tracks that can provide a racing surface drivers can pass on.
