It's not hard. First you define the track width. Then you use the rr for a reference. Now all the panels are measured from a plane. You sure as heck cant pick willy nilly unrelated points and pull a tape and enforce anything. They've been doing that with skew for years and they keep being defeated, as is obvious it would happen. If your fender isn't wide enough and rotating or sliding your engine makes it so, that's absolutely ridiculous.Originally posted by KTMLew View Post
IDK. Maybe just remove all the sheetmetal. Because I don't know what we supposed to measure to/from.Modern Day Spec Wedge Racing

OK. We actually agree. Makes your skin crawl I bet. <wink> That DOES make it so can't "technically" change wheel offsets/add spacers/adjust track width unless you can slide the whole body over.Originally posted by MasterSbilt_Racer View Post

Might still be able to use a spacer, depending on tolerances used. If not, so what? They've taken away plenty of other adjustments and parts with rules that accomplished nothing.Originally posted by KTMLew View Post

By no means a tech guy so this is a question more so than a statement based on knowledge. Wouldn't just making the noses be straight down the side (with no flare outs outside the front wheels) be a big help. The cars looked so much cleaner without those massive nose pieces that stick outside the wheel. I don't recall guys having to pull off for the nose being collapsed under the front wheels very often, if ever, in the old days. Now its a fairly common occurence. Guy hits the cushion too hard & caves in the nose.

How much of the body is because of the chassis though? Like if body rules went back to the first car posted, could you even get that body on a modern car? I could see the nose being pretty easy to fix since they're the size of my living room wall now.

The body is way bigger than the chassis. It's held out there by braces and bumpers. The chassis width has changed very little from that time. Yes, the car could accept a small body.Originally posted by 84wedge View PostHow much of the body is because of the chassis though? Believe RF suspension sticks out further and RR is tucked in more. Or is that an illusion? The whole body, if center of radiator is @ 12 o clock, body is rotated to 1:30-2:00.Originally posted by MasterSbilt_Racer View Post

AM/PM doesn't factor in unless it's raining...what???
WE need to get body back to noon-o-clock. Sorta. Viewed from above with a drone/helicopter/skyhook, what have you.

If we look at a typical LM's wheel position: This makes a rectangle but the RF wheel is roughly 4" farther right then the RR wheel, so think of a rectangle with the top of the rectangle being 4" wider.
Now if you look at the body in relation to the wheels: The nose covers both front wheels, sure its shifted some from the center but it does in fact cover both front wheels by an inch. Now if you look at the body behind the RF tire, it's 8" or more inside the RF tire and the RR quarter panel covers the outside of the RR tire.
Basically the back of the hood vs the rear spoiler is more then 10" angled to the left and not inline with the Tire position/car

Correct. Chevelle front clip/fenders, relatively straightly mounted, with Gremlin rear half. And rear section is twisted.Originally posted by billetbirdcage View PostIf we look at a typical LM's wheel position: This makes a rectangle but the RF wheel is roughly 4" farther right then the RR wheel, so think of a rectangle with the top of the rectangle being 4" wider.

Pickup points are pretty much in same place, but suspension is 2 ish inches wider at rf. Rear track width is still pretty much the same to slightly narrowed, depending on what car you comparing to.Originally posted by KTMLew View Post

And there again, those old cars were at the limit of the rules before cars got wider suspension. Hmmm
There's no rule the tire can't be unshrouded anyway.Last edited by MasterSbilt_Racer; 09-03-2024, 01:54 PM.Modern Day Spec Wedge Racing

The body offset creates the illusion RF is a foot outside RR. Makes it look like LR is outside body on track. Just crazy stuff.Originally posted by MasterSbilt_Racer View Post
