You are correct- that’s why I said most sponsors are big fans of the sport.

By major sponsors, I'm referring to the likes of Low Voltage Solutions, Rio Grande Waste Services, Hoker, Mesilla Valley Transportation, and a few others. Not VP, Swift Springs, and Bilstein shocks.Originally posted by MasterSbilt_Racer View Post
I don't know what makes a major sponsor or how much that costs. He wins a lot, so a lot of people want their business on the car. Folks advertising in this deal aren't really making good ROI. It's a vanity project.
It is noticeable that you don't see Hoker's name on any back markers. He likes his name on winners.8/13/16

I can't believe he's on Gustin car now. I thought for sure he'd be getting behind one of those street stock guys in his FB post.Modern Day Spec Wedge Racing

There was plenty of racers, of all divisions, angling for some of Jeff's money on that post..... pretty sad really. I don't know what actually happened, but if anyone thinks loyalty will get them anything (besides maybe an tiny discount) in any business deal, they are going to end up disappointed. Not saying it's right, but that's the reality. Sponsors provide some sort of revenue in exchange for being represented and promoted by the driver.Originally posted by MasterSbilt_Racer View PostI can't believe he's on Gustin car now. Lets not forget, we ALL know who Jeff Hoker is due to him investing heavily in the sport (aka writing many big checks). It's hard to think his involvement hasn't been positive for his business, but I think he does it more so because his really likes to be involved. The sport didn't welcome him with open arms just because he is a good guy (I'm sure he is that also), he was welcomed and became a big name because he is generous with his resources. Like many others who have been around the sport over the years, when/if he decides to cut back support, you will hear his name less. Yes, it sucks to realize the relationships are mainly transactionary, but it happens all the time.
I think it's kind of ironic that we have heard of one driver who was collecting sponsor money and not turning that money over to the car owner, but the car owner is deemed wrong for letting the driver go. There's also a driver with an ignorant comment on Jeff's post who won't even speak to a former sponsor because they had to stop sponsoring due to their advertising budget. Like anything in life, if there's is money involved.... feelings are going to end up hurt.
Hopefully everything works out for all parties.

Everyone was playing "look at me". That includes the author.Originally posted by Tireguy17 View PostThere is nothing worse than someone airing dirty laundry on social media. There “ Is” a difference in personal IRS filings and corporate tax filings.
Question: if a corporation sponsored a race team -would that be considered as advertising-therefore part of operating exspensive?
wouldn’t this deduct from bottom line net profit from which taxes are paid?
just asking- I am not an accountant and familiar with tax laws on businesses.
Thanks in advance!

You can deduct the expense. So, it's better than giving it to a casino, but only by your tax rate times the amount.Originally posted by foxfire2dirtracing View PostThere “ Is” a difference in personal IRS filings and corporate tax filings.
