Seriously, you're going to compare Capital 10 years ago to Longhorn and Rocket now? Really? Looks like modern chassis technology has left Capital behind, otherwise everyone would be buying them. You gonna bring Masterbuilt into this, too? They were good 10 years ago.Originally posted by 84wedge View Post
You do know Clanton won the WoO points title in a Capital 10 years ago right?

erb has been consistently better on integras and when shepp was dominating it was on integras. Its time to go back home, unless terbo grabs one next week rocket may go winless this speedweeks, not good, longhorn dont need to be the only thing winningOriginally posted by t4g2 View PostPump the brakes not everyone needs to be in longhorn or rocket to succeed. Ask b shep right now. Outside of the box thinking an trying something new is a great thing. They may figure something different out.

HTF fanboy was talking about how Capital was new or something. They are not.Originally posted by Dirt Clod View Post

First, I disagree that you have to have either a Rocket or Longhorn to be competitive on a National tour, but it may require a change in approach to setups to be fast. Trying to setup/Tune Brand A with Brand B setups may not work. Secondly you have to commit and not expect to figure it all out, in a month. Third, Florida has never been a good measure of how a racer will do over the season. Fourth, HTF to me is too scattered in their whole approach, too much success too soon. They have the ca$h, why not setup a test/tuner with Rumley, let him evaluate things and quit wasting money on the road. You missed the point. Im not saying everyone needs to be in a Longhorn or Rocket to be successful on a national tour.......but Dennis does.Originally posted by t4g2 View PostPump the brakes not everyone needs to be in longhorn or rocket to succeed. You make great points. Florida is not a measure to compare to the Midwest. I'm not sure Rumley would offer them paid help. I'm also not sure Dennis and Heather would take that route to accept help. Dennis runs better at Volusia. Hopefully he can at least get some top 10 finishes this week.Originally posted by Henry Every View PostFirst, I disagree that you have to have either a Rocket or Longhorn to be competitive on a National tour, but it may require a change in approach to setups to be fast. His performance the last 2 years. This isn’t hard to figure out.Originally posted by Henry Every View Post

i don’t want this to be a 2 chassis sport. I was a life-long Bloomer and Owens fan. I wanted Scott’s chassis to succeed, I want the same for Owens latest venture. But….the current landscape makes it hard for anything but a Rocket and Longhorn to be successful on a national tour.Last edited by Tireguy17; 02-10-2025, 05:58 PM.

Here is the problem, the current landscape of DLM racing is its a 2 horse race. Plain and simple. Those 2 companies have taken the steps (engineering, staff, drivers) to be multiple levels ahead of any other brand. Would it be great if Capital, Category 5, BWRC, and all the others were competitive? Absolutely. But they aren't there. On top of the chassis companies investment, then you have the teams investment that are successful, this is where Dennis is in a bad spot. He's competing against teams that have 3-4 full time crew members and more resources.
At the same time being in a Longhorn doesn't equate to instant success. The ones that are successful (JD, RTJ, BR32, Moran) have all the necessary pieces and are in sync with each other.
