I was mistaken as Clanton starting pole of 2nd row! Whoops. Thought they said he had the pole.

pullbar rayburn would be proud
Their Patreon revealed some juicy details. Got to All-Tech for practice night. Engine would only turn 7200. Had changed jetting for good air at Needmore. Changed back. No joy. Pulled valve covers and found broken rocker arm. Fortunately Randy Clarey was there and helped scrounge enough parts together to get it patched up. Then found out RF shock had crapped out. Think 3rd time, already? Not great advertisement for that shock company. Guess didn't have what they needed with them somehow. Jonathan had to go home and get a load of parts? So practice night consisted of whole lot of pit thrashing and maybe 1/2 hour on track. Said, since three day event & with them being essentially in testing mode, treated last night as a testing session.
I really like Joseph's attitude. He's not crushed if he doesn't win. He feels pretty honored to be racing with this level of competition. Fully aware of how tough they are to beat. He prefers to win, but accepts, ain't gonna happen every night. And nights end. We start a new one tomorrow. No crying in baseball type attitude. Moving on.
Whole lot of people can't seem to understand that. If you ain't running around half naked in freezing weather yanking chest hairs out, offering to fight all takers, u ain't a man seems to be the prevalent opinion. 2nd is first loser type of deal. I was never very competitive at anything. Doing MY best was good enough for me. Was what dad taught me. Just do YOUR best. It's enough. Racing against the best in the states is pretty darned good measuring stick. No shame in a bad night.
Where did Rocket1 finish?

SB2s are a canted valve head, and the valve-train is heavy, and the castings were beefy. Ive heard 8 to 10 lbs per head, loaded, not sure on validity of that thou.Originally posted by KTMLew View Post
What does an Aluminum block SB2.2 weigh? Seen it mentioned that SB2 is heavy but what parts are heavier? These aren't old NASCAR cast iron blocks so I don't understand how could be that much heavier. How much does say 50lbs affect the car?
Don't believe this one is a 20 y/o version either. Believe was originally built for Brandon Overton? Maybe 10-12 years old?

Edit: After some research you CAN put SB2.2 heads on a regular block with appropriate lifters & rockers. So the bottom end should/could be identical to any other stock bore spacing engine. Surely the heads aren't that much heavier?
I talked to a pretty well known racer that didnt like them because it made the car handle different, that weight being up higher in the car, but really liked the way they ran.
The new stuff 10 or 11 degree wide bore stuff, you would think it would as heavy or heavier than SB2s, but i dont know. T Mac video / call with Chaz said the new stuff was like 370 lbs, which is wild, thats crazy light compared to the older days.
More weight off the front end is a good thing !Last edited by Kromulous; 01-31-2025, 10:32 AM.

I agree on the Joseph thing, and most people in the stands have no idea what it takes to be on Top, and just how fickle that edge can be. One day your fast, and the next day your out, and just like that you lose it all. Racing in general is a wicked game.Originally posted by KTMLew View Post

Made tonight feature. Started 20th got to 17th I think mainly via attrition. Tearing chit up left and right tonight. Appears Joseph has parked it. Maybe overheating? Or just decided wasn't going anywhere and gonna get torn up.
Rocket1 flipped in heat. Davenport hit wall and went to backup then did it again in feature.
And Marlar just climbed the wall. Straight to pits. Weather coming. Spencer Hughes led whole race. RTJ coming. And to lead.
Shep to 7th from 27th in a backup.
It's a dyno session.
RTJ 5 second lead. RTJ by 8.4 seconds.Last edited by KTMLew; 01-31-2025, 09:50 PM.

There's been quite a bit of talk of various guys running one the last several years.Originally posted by KTMLew View Post
If Clanton is running one, must have found something. Just picked wrong RR tire. Ran a 2. So did Moran. Was THAT close to being a great idea.Modern Day Spec Wedge Racing
