Why four cars in the "playoffs"?

Why not just the podium? The fourth place car does NOT deserve the opportunity to unseat the first place car. The amount of wins and the points difference, it is JUST. PLAIN. STUPID. If Lucas Oil is around next year I really hope they get rid of it.

The playoff system is the dumbest thing ever in dirt IMO. Thornton not winning the title 2 years ago was just ignorant. He had north of 20 wins & then the car broke on a track that resembled a corn field (due to rain). So he's not the champ. Nascar level silliness.

That Chase crap, along with the Danica phony cautions, are what pushed me away from NA$CRAP for good. It really bugs me that Lucas does it now, but I do my best to ignore it. Four drivers makes no sense either. As long as the drivers can make bank from it, I guess it's a good thing, but I think it's BS and unneeded.

O'Neal was 550 points behind RTJ before Knoxville, how does that deserve a points title?

It doesn't And it will be a travesty is Moran or O'Neal win this year. Lucas had a great battle for the title this year, but instead their gimmick is going to potentially deprive RTJ and JD of a title. I sure hope it doesn't happen. That's no knock on Moran or Hud. All the drivers in the hunt are great drivers, but only two of them deserve the title.

I heard a rumor from DIRTRACKR that Troutman will probably be chasing Lucas next year in the GR Smith car. I hope it's true since I don't sub to Dirtvision.

I hope Moran or Hudson wins it. It's their pooch, they can screw it if they want. It's really not as big a deal as what they did to the technical side of the sport.

Your 2nd point is valid. Tho the points thing just ruins any historical context of who the champions were since it is a mickey mouse format. But yes the technical side is just short of a disaster on any track bigger than 1/3 mile.

The history part of it is really only worth so much. Dirt late models existed for decades before the Lucas Oil Series. It's not the same as NASCAR screwing their history up. And so far, WoO still has it right, and is the older series.

Pending? The cars went from simple suspension rules and small bodies to a rulebook 10x the size and wedge car bodies. The whole spirit of the class was abandoned and the only thing that ever ruined it, returned.

I'm not a fan of it, but we seen firsthand last night why BRS wants it to be this way......drama. Like it or not, it will keep everyone watching.

As for why four cars, no clue.

Did anyone stop watching in the first place? Were ticket sales dropping at the end of the season? Even when a points title was clinched I wouldn't miss a race cause I'm a fan. This rule hasn't made anything better for anyone except DoDs favourites O'Neal and Rocket.

The way I understand it is BRS wanted the format; since they are putting up the money I believe they have a right to have their expectations met. Thank you BRS, whether I think the format is perfect or not I do appreciate them stepping up and taking care of the racers! Big dollar sponsors are hard to find, may not be to everyone's liking but it sure has kept people typing...
