Been to a lot of tracks but 5 of my favorites that i would recommend no particular order.
1-attica raceway park not only a great late model track but sprints are fantastic also.
2-pittsburgh pa. motor speedway the 4 times i have been there for the pittsburgher it was great each time. this place is a huge 1/2 mile, very entertaining.
3-oakshade raceway, go there normally about 4-5 times each year and never leave disappointed very primitve facility but who cares when the races are that good.
4-Fairbury speedway, may have saw one of the top 5 shows i have ever seen when we went there. They had 2 features for the latemodels and a 5,000 to win show for modifieds. couldnt believe how good it was for as small a track it was hammer down all night long. cant wait to go back.
5-Merritt speedway, this is a great place to watch any kind of racing especially when the track is prepped properly. should be real good now that it has an all new surface on it also. summernationals race this summer and a world of outlaws doubleheader this year too. also helps that we have a place about 20 minutes from the track so i can go up there anytime during the season.

yes i agree it is a hidden gem, only wish they would have a few more big paying races for the late models. having an ethanol race is a step in the right direction this year though.

Merritt is ok because its close to me but they tend to drag out the program. They need to eliminate a division. They have 3 that can barely draw 10 cars apiece. They need LM, mod, sportsman and 4 cylinders. Lightening sprints are ok also but theyre like Crate LM, theres 2- 3 front runners and everyone else. Must be to sell more beer.

Most of mine have been mentioned, but I have one to add.

Salina Highbanks Speedway in Pryor/Salina,Oklahoma. Bad,Bad,Bad fast when hooked up. Track seems to be on the drier side in the lastest videos I've seen though.

We went there back in 2000 and 2001 for MARS series shows. VERY steeply banked with sweeping turns, and the straights are steeply banked also. They watered the track by driving the water truck around the outside of the track on the top. The backstretch cone was lifted up out of the way by a rope and a crane type deal. Otherwise,it would've fallen over! The stands were up a steep hill, and they had a Kubota pulling a trailer to give people a ride up the hill.

The first time we went it rained all afternoon, but they got the show in. The lates were flying around that place. Even the cruiser class flies around that joint.

Back then the track was in a dispute with an adjacent landowner. The guy owned a Radio Shack in town, and he had a huge bank of speakers set up facing the track. He blasted bird noises back at the track all night long. Never heard or seen anything like that before.

totally agree about too many classes, should be a max of 4 no matter what. still dont understand why they dont eliminate the trucks altogether or combine the pro-stocks and trucks together.

They could combine bombers and sportsman together. Don't see much of a difference whether its there or when you go to Winston.
