I can't disagree with what you say about other cars and how the engine is mounted...I prefer not to mount my level for drainback issues...something I learned from Penske and Allison in their AMC days...chevy is a whole different animal...I just responded to your question on where I personally check the angle....I could go on about pro's and con's of the AMC oiling but wont....My apoligies to the op for the sidetrack....Originally posted by stock car driver View PostAMC motors have oiling issues, what causes them is debatable.
The angle the motor is mounted at isnt a contributing factor....
I dont see mods, late models or any other mid plate mounted motor car mounting the motors at a angle around here.
Ive mounted my race car motors LEVEL and never had issues.
The guy who says he measured 5 degrees on the carb mounting flange was likely reading the 5 degrees the wrong way since the intakes have angle built into them.BIG Headers

As for "nobody" mounting their engines at an angle...my Pierce car has mounts in it that has the engine sitting at noticeable angle (running downhill to the back) even with quite a bit of rake in the car.
