well the chase is hard to find stable ground where as a driver has a big point lead after 26 races and they penalize him by not rewarding him or anything for the first 26 races than reset his points, and this is total BS they should have the very maximum points and not just 5 points more BS, that is like saying he threw his first 26 races away zilch nothing no money and very little points just a bad memory.

Buster, this has been hashed, rehashed and hashed again. The NASCAR apologists and water carriers (their numbers are few and keep shrinking every day) flatly refuse to acknowledge and admit the obvious.

What it boils down to is several teams who've been the best teams throughout the season get screwed and a dozen or more totally undeserving teams get put in position that if luck and phony timing are on their side they win a championship that they in no way earned or deserve. I am a Kyle Larson fan, but Kyle doesn't deserve to be in contention for a championship. He and his team haven't earned the right to be in contention for a championship, pure and simple. Would I enjoy seeing Kyle win the championship? Sure. But only because I know where Kyle came from and it would be satisfying to see one of the greatest dirt drivers of all time get recognition from racing where the money is. It would be tainted, nonetheless.

The whole fiasco cannot be defined any more clearly or in any other way. No other explanation contains any logic. Recent depletion of fan interest reflects the inequities and absurdity. For the most part only the slack jawed mouth breathers are left and I'm sure at least one of them will respond with more unrealistic mumbo-jumbo.

Me and all of those invisible fans that BBQ spoke of that show up at every NASCAR Cup race just love watching someone who is 12th or 13th in the points ranking having the points reset so they have a chance to win the championship. Now that's some good stuff!! LOL!!

Yeah for the most part I agree but I do like NASCAR, been watching since they just showed snippets on Wide World of Sports.. so its grown on me... and I seriously do like the Chase format.... far more exciting then having the Cup rapped up in July.....

Great run by Eric in the 20 car!!!! Hung on by a thread over Kyle Larson to win Sat. night... He was definitely driving his butt off... KyBu had them covered early but a seemingly minor scrape on the fence wasn't as minor as they thought and cause a right rear flat .... It was a killer race with a ton of passing through out.... pretty darned entertaining...

Indy Cars at Texas, Chicagoland and Indy is so much better racing it can't be compared or mentioned in the same breath. 4 or 5 cars vying for the lead every lap at 220 MPH. The taxi cabs are really slow in comparison, too! They're so slow as to resemble the Indy Cars on pace laps.

Heck of a good CUP race today as well , Martin Trex pulled that one out by the skin of his teeth... poor ole Chase got nicked again, pit crew only lose one position all day long, and it had to be the last stop... then three cars stay out and it puts Chase in 5th starting on the inside, pretty much ended his chances, with out the yellow with 4 to go Chase had it...and it was a real yellow, tire and fender all over the track from the K-LOVE car....

To the contrary, I love stock cars, even though they are slow, awkward, cumbersome and resemble chitcago taxi cabs. Did I mention they're slow? Been to dozens of NASCAR races throughout the years and enjoyed every one.

What I don't like or enjoy is foolish GIMMICK'S!!! Wave around's, chase, overtime and giving a championship to a driver that didn't compete in 1/3 of the races just to name a few.

Chicagoland Speedway is less than an hour from our house, we were offered free tickets from a local business that I heavily patronize on a regular basis. They have some of the PSL seats at the top of the grandstands, GREAT seats. They had an official tailgate area with free beer and food for their good customers. We smartly opted for the 12 hours of drive time to and from Haubstadt, Indiana and 1 night motel room to see the USAC National 410 Sprint Cars. Watched Kyle Cummins get his first USAC Sprint car win. No gimmicks or hype, just balls to the wall racing by nasty fast cars on dirt. The decision was an easy one.

Oh my gosh ! Racing at its purest form. Just as I thought it was evident that Canaan was going to take the lead it was Rahal at the checkers. You could as the old adage goes " Throw a blanket " on those top 4 that were fiercely contending for the lead. The big thing to remember is that these race cars are built from the ground up for the purpose of being a purebred race machine. The drivers just don't crudely body slam or punt another machine out of the way like the taxi drivers do. parts would be dropping of the cars like flies. It takes a special skill set to compete in these cars.
