When are you guys going to wake up and figure out there is no pay off. It is physically impossible to pay off the debt. Even during Clinton administration, supposedly the best economic time for a long time, the national debt still went up. Our economy will implode and we will run out of currency before we even get close to reducing the debt.

Do you realize you would have to replace the hidden tax of inflation with some other kind of tax the minute you reduced that debt by a dollar. Anyone that blows smoke up your kazootibungi, telling you they are going to reduce the national debt with the system we have is flat out lying to you.

It is impossible when you spend 40% more than you take in. Just simple math.

Bubstr they don't understand how our monetary system works. It is explained in the Four Horsemen video.
Haters don't really hate you, in fact they hate themselves because you are a reflection of what they wish to be.

Any dummy could see that, but it's impossible if you spend 40% less than you take in. It's just plain impossible. At best, you could slow the rate of debt growth and live miserable while you do it.

Exactly. And for a good look at how successful "austerity" strategies have been, look toward England and Greece, see how well their economies are doing after cutting everything.

Not that it matters, but during the recession in the UK in the early 90's studies were done on companies that cut spending versus companies that invested even more and took cuts in profits. When the recession ended, companies that SPENT money and lost profit margins during the recession recovered to pre-recession performance levels quicker and were stronger after the recession in their respective markets.

Companies that cut their spending took a lot longer to recover and in many cases lost a lot of market share if they managed to survive at all.

The moral of the story is you can't cut your way to prosperity long term.
