It still remains, this bill takes from some, not all and in the end spends more than it saves. Even the far right is ready to throw Ryan under the buss, provided there is room under there, with Rubio for his amnesty.

Both absolutely correct. If it could be done, it would ease the budget problem, but the budget problem is just a side show that takes attention away from our biggest problem. That is the recession and the economy that it has caused. If you have money in your pocket, you may not like spending, but it hurts a lot less. How we get out of this recession and prevent another is the big problem.

Even if you call it bacon, leave the bacon alone, its a pitence compared to the medicare fraud, welfare fraud, food stamp fraud, farm land bank fraud and on and on and on. I don't care about the bacon part of it, they take care of the real waste fraud and abuse, all the bugitary and economy issues go away....which takes care of the recession all by its self.

I'll give you a "fer instance" If you want to save money in the military, you give that power to anyone E-4 and below, and work out a commission system for them and watch the cuts happen. When I was in the USAF, I watched the same furniture go to the shop for upholstery four times, and it was new to begin with and it ended up the same exact color it was when it was purchased. When I pointed this out to our procurment department, they answered back with we don't want to make any waves....

The only real problem I see with Ryan is the fact that he comes from money and privilege and all of his proposals on the economy are aimed at making everyone but people like him pay. He LOVES Ayn Rand. And Ayn Rand's philosophy was that wealthy people are genuinely special, they are different from the masses and because they are so special and different, they need to be nurtured, coddled and given special privileges to encourage them to bestow upon the rest of us their blessings.

He really believes that. And it shows in every single proposal he puts forward.

I have no problem with the concept of cutting government costs. I do have a problem with stupidity of when and where the cuts are made. The National debt is not going to be cut to nothing. It is a physical impossibility. The debt is not our most pressing problem right now, The floundering economy is. The lack of Jobs is. If these unemployed where working and paying tax, we wouldn't have a problem. Cutting spending does nothing to rectify the economy. It hurts it. Anyone but a idiot knows you make cuts when it's affordable to do so. You don't cut your nose off to spite your face.

Where was these cuts before the recession, when there was some growth and less unemployment? We keep doing the same thing over and over, recession, growth, recession, growth, the debt never goes down, it always goes up. What did they do this time? A cut to some worker Bees and more spending that before, with a promise if cuts after the 16 elections. Would you like to bet on them promised cuts? Most people know this isn't going to happen. The democrats know it. The republicans know it. Anyone not in LaLa land knows it.

So, what did this bill, just do? It made some working people pay and saved some from paying. It's all about who pays the bill, a bill that will never get paid. I have news for you, our children will never pay this bill, just like we didn't pay our fathers bill and just like he didn't pay our grandfathers bill. Our dollar won;t buy as much bread, the bread will adjust to the dollar and life goes on. It's not a good system but it's what we have.

PITTANCE? I have news for you, a dollar is made and spent, a penny at a time. Your heating bill dollar is measured by pennies on your thermostat a penny at a degree. Your example of upholstery is the penny at a time.

I can agree with you on the waste in the military. I was on the USS Independence in 66. We downed a F4 for a nose strut. The tool to remove and replace the O ring retainer that McDonald Douglas supplied was broken again. I machined one out of chrome molly scrap in the machine shop. We had to hide that tool to keep it. That was a $300 tool back then. We had gone threw at least 5 of them in our squadron in 3 years. Some with just one or two uses. A tube with a T handle on one end and a disk with two pins on the other. My pins where replaceable.

This still comes down to, why are these employees paying for the waste, when they have no control over it. A couple billion in bacon here and there adds up quick.

The reason I say don't worry about the bacon, there was over six billion dollars in medicare fraud in Florida about five or six years ago...not bacon fraud. Go for the big bucks, dont worry about the pennies in bacon right now. Besides if they got serious about the fraud, that would probably clean up a lot of the bacon crap too....

I got a message telling me "here's some freedom of speech, STFU!"

Red stars mean you aren't a sheep on here. The majority of the green people are conformists to the group. It's a form of bullying and social control. Mudslinger would be appalled if he started racking up red dots and the group started turning against him. He would leave 4m and never come back if he wasn't loved and adored by the haters. Same with most of them.

Lol You just say safe things that don't offend the intolerant. It's no biggie, I guess I get enough green ones to offset them and I'm not going to say anything different than what I believe anyway. If I did give red ones, I'd sign them, just so they knew where they came from. I wouldn't want anyone else getting credit for them. It's a silly feature anyway.

We have fond – or bitter – memories of hearing that Mitt Romney was going to pick Paul Ryan as his VP candidate. That was a year and a half ago, which equates to at least one or two lifetimes in po…
