How low can you go

A couple of things; Ryan wasn't the only one negotiating, Patty Murray was there for the Dems and if the Dems were actually against this they could of brought it in front of the American People to gain political pressure to reverse this. Since when have the Dems been for anything other than cutting the Pentagon's budget? The '60's under JFK probably. Finally, and the most painful for all of us, I'm afraid this is just a harbinger of things to come. The retired military are just the low hanging fruit who were the easiest to short. Everybody else is going to take their turn who feed at the Federal Trough. Medicare, Medicaid, SS, you name it, it's coming.Originally posted by Bubstr View Post

Gee let me think. Wasn't it Paul Ryan that cried for more defense spending to the already rich defense contractors , when the sequester took effect. I guess they didn't hang low enough on the tree. Maybe it was they gave him money and the Veterans didn't.Originally posted by 15D View PostA couple of things; Ryan wasn't the only one negotiating, Patty Murray was there for the Dems and if the Dems were actually against this they could of brought it in front of the American People to gain political pressure to reverse this. The fact is you can bet he was the one that was for cutting. Every time he opens his weasel mouth it says cut. There is something wrong with a man that breaks a contract after the other side has been satisfied.

On the back of my enlistment papers, the contract I had with the DOD, that my pay and retirement were subject to the wills and wims of Congress. Not an exact quote obviously, but anybody who stayed in after '94 should have known that this was a possibility as it's been discussed since then. There was a proposal on the table in '92 I believe to keep the 20 year career people from receiving a pension until they reached the age of 56. It was one of the reasons I took an early retirement in '94 after serving for 12 years. I just didn't trust them not to cut my pay.Originally posted by Bubstr View PostGee let me think. Adam Smith said governments are “instituted for the defense of the rich against the poor.” Wars are waged to make them richer. Howard Zinn called war “terrorism magnified a hundred times.” Make it many thousands of times. Michael Parenti said “the best way to win a Nobel Peace Prize (is) to wage war or support …Haters don't really hate you, in fact they hate themselves because you are a reflection of what they wish to be.

You sure point out what you think is a tea bagger with disdain? What about the truth behind the negotiating? How about an ugly retort about the Progressive Marxists in the Democrat Party instead of peeing on the wrong leg all the time?Originally posted by Bubstr View Post

Got your mind made up years ago and not listening to the facts? How about Liteys post with a link explaining the details? Does that not fly with you either?Originally posted by Bubstr View PostGee let me think. Then you should know the difference between a earned and paid for benefit and a entitlement. Some of these politicians, especially tea baggers like Ryan, don't seem to understand the difference. It's one of the big reasons they lost the last election. 47% indeed. It will probably be the reason we return to the draft also. You want to tell everyone how much you contributed to your retirement and Tricare? it wasn't free.Originally posted by 15D View PostOn the back of my enlistment papers, the contract I had with the DOD, that my pay and retirement were subject to the wills and wims of Congress. I have a couple questions for you. Why do Senators, Representatives and Presidents come out of office much richer than when they go in and pay an exorbitant amount to gain that office.Originally posted by Clayton_Wetter View PostGot your mind made up years ago and not listening to the facts? Go watch old cowboy movies where right always wins and the guy in the white hat always gets the girl.
BTW Litie's post said agreed on. Is that supposed to excuse the weasel, who has been whining cut cut cut on SS, Medicare and earned retirements since he was elected to office.

All Senate Democrats voted to-nite to stop debate on a plan to reinstate the COLA. Hard to lay this entirely at the feet of Paul Ryan.Originally posted by Bubstr View PostThen you should know the difference between a earned and paid for benefit and a entitlement. Like I posted earlier, unless we get our financial house together, and soon, we will be hearing of these sort of cuts routinely. The Vets are just the first to receive this treatment. Everybody else at the Government teat will feel the cuts. Unlike the Vets, many will become violent over it. Remember that movement called Occupy Wall Street from a few years back, that's just the start of this.
Grave times are just around the corner.

Here is a just and honest question: why should I support SS and Medicare as it currently pays out benefits today when by the time I become eligible, I will likely only receive 75% of what current beneficiaries receive? Why shouldn't I insist that cuts to COLA start immediately to ensure I'm likely to receive the 75% for the rest of my natural life once I'm eligible? It seems to me to be the only truly fair policy. I would imagine if a Class Action Law Suit were to actually make it before a Federal Court that the retarding of COLA Adjustments may be mandated.Originally posted by Bubstr View PostBTW Litie's post said agreed on.
