That's an interesting take, but define liberalism. If you take Webster's definition,

then it would appear that not all definitions of liberalism is inconsistent with Christian beliefs.

The first is circular, liberalism is being liberal. Like circular means being a circle.

The second talks of embracing Christian principles, not running counter to them.

The third is consistent with Republican free market principles.

And if you use the last definition, I disagree with the "all people are basically good" part of it because I know better, but it also states that a liberal believes the government should be the barrier protecting civil liberties, that civil liberty also includes the civil liberty of being free to practice one's own chosen religion. Which in my book sounds pretty good, because in many countries practicing Christianity would be dangerous, but not here.

I think that some people just like to throw words around as insults when they really don't know what they mean. In this nation today, certain elements are ALWAYS trying to start trouble, and screaming "liberal!!!!!" at anyone who isn't participating in their little club is just another way we are being divided. I think the people screaming it the loudest are also the ones who don't understand how they are being used by the enemy to disrupt and cause division among Christians.

Well, actually, I did give you an answer. I agreed with you. I said "Yes, they are." Then I said "So, change the laws."

Since we live in a Democracy, or an elected Republic rather, then as Christians if we are not in the majority, maybe we should stop being so hateful and nasty to the people we disagree with and instead try to show them God's love instead of his wrath.

Maybe we should dump our alter ego's we use to keep our true selves hidden and come out into the open and be compassionate, kind and friendly to each other instead of trying to tear people to shreds when they disagree with us or don't jump onto the same bandwagon we are on.
