What I like is the last 3 Indy 500's and the racing at Chicagoland when they still raced there. Ton's of passing all through the race, 20+ cars on the lead lap at the finish and very few, if any, gimmicks. Best high profile racing we've seen each of the last 3 years. Seen some dirt racing (see Chili Bowl & midgets at Du Quoin) that was better but that goes without saying.Originally posted by mudslinger47 View PostConsidering they finish most races under green is because they're separated by a quarter lap and about 3 cars on the lead lap... long train, short of cars.... but if that's what you like, go for it, just not my cup o tea...
Great racing sans the gimmicks is most definitely my cup of tea. Considering the fact that Indy is sold out I'm thinking 275,000 ticket buying race fans agree with me! 275,000 does not include the folks that buy GA tickets to get into the infield which ups the total to around 300,000 which makes Indy the largest single day sporting event IN THE WORLD! But you knew that, didn't ya' muddy ol' buddy! LOL!

LOLOL!! This testimonial coming from a chucklehead who believes silly gimmicks enhance the entertainment quality of racing. Oh the irony!Originally posted by mudslinger47 View PostWouldn't have a clue, never watched an indy race complete in my life... bored to tears...
Not a lot of credibility there! LOL!!
To say the past 3 Indy 500's were boring is as silly and uninformed as saying NASCAR's gimmicks have increased their spectator attendance and TV ratings. Just doesn't pass the bull$hit test! Literally laughing out loud!!Last edited by CIRF; 05-18-2016, 10:33 AM.

Nasty, I suspect you brought a smile to uncounted faces, including mine, with that one liner! Clayton, I thought it to be accurate and appropriate in the context with which it was used here. Clean and nonconfrontational but very concise and effective! LOL!Originally posted by Clayton_Wetter View PostA chucklehead? I must add that new word to my personal dictionary!!!!
The last 3 500's were as good as any race on any track featuring any type racecar.Originally posted by mudslinger47 View PostI have "NEVER" seen one that wasn't for the amount that I watched....and F1 is worse!!!
Issues with too many foreign drivers (with which I am in complete agreement) or that the sound of the cars is not as appealing as say a USAC Silver Crown car (I also agree with that) are legitimate. But it cannot be said with any degree of honesty that the past 3 Indy 500's or nearly every Indy Car race ever held at Chicagoland Speedway were boring. A blanket statement like that is simply not true and approximately 300,000 people, myself and my family included, will lay down their hard earned money betting the string of great racing continues on Memorial Day 2016.
The folks in charge at Indianapolis Motor Speedway will be encouraging TV camera shots of the 500 crowd again this year. Sellout crowds are great!! Too bad NASCAR, for the most part, has long since forgotten what that's like!!Last edited by CIRF; 05-19-2016, 11:03 AM.
