What do you do Cirf when baseball game tied after 9 innings a hockey game is tied after 3 periods even golf has its sudden death so why shouldn't racing nd if the short tracks can finish under green why can't NASCAR orINDY

Bogus comparison. When baseball games and hockey games go to extra innings and overtime the teams are tied. When a yellow comes out near the end of a race the leader and the field has been determined. There is a winner and the field running order is complete.

I was there that day and we heard no such grumbling. Not saying there weren't those few malcontents that couldn't accept the race finish as it played out in it's advertised distance but judging by the crowd reaction and what we heard and saw on our way out it was miniscule. For the most part Indy Car fans recognize and accept the fact that a GWC has the distinct potential to compromise expensive equipment along with the well being of drivers and possibly some fans.

i wouldn't have started my thread if I would have seen this one. Great racing today, I was driving the last thirty laps with them edge of my seat. Not ashamed to admit it. Those guys are great drivers, you cannot take that away from them.

I would concur, especially in regards to Larson. We watched him in his dirt track days and he was a very special talent on those tracks. He could run as hard or harder than anyone. At the same time if the play called for it he could think in the seat during fierce competition.

I recall watching Larson's Turkey Night Grand Prix victory out in Perris, California in November of 2012. The race was 98 laps on a short 1/2 mile for midgets with no pit stops. Right rear tires were popping like popcorn. Larson got his Keith Kunz #71 midget out front a little past midway and drove it straight and consistent with guys like Tracy Hines and Bryan Clauson showing him a wheel lap after lap. The kid ran his race while Clauson got into the turn 1 wall and put it on it's top and Tracy blew a right rear with 2 to go.

You could see plainly that he was not only a brave, hard chargin' kid, but he could think in the seat, too.

Larson can wheel a car, I just wish he could get more consistent cars. I am glad he took the high road and didn't wreck the leader. I would like to see what he could do with a Hendrick car. However he will win and win often at some point.

The Green-white-checker gimmick was enacted as a knee jerk capitulation by NASCAR to full beer can throwing spectators, primarily at Talladega and primarily Dale Earnhardt Jr. fans who were pissed because Jeff Gordon had won a race there beating Earnhardt Jr and the race finished under yellow but not more than the advertised race distance.

Green-white-checker finishes have destroyed more racing equipment by far than any other NASCAR gimmick.

The rule renders advertised race mileage/laps false on those occasions when they exceed the advertised distance thus forcing NASCAR and their affiliate tracks to perpetrate some degree of fraud when advertising their race distances.

Did GWC stain the finish today, hopefully not.

No, I just don't like a guy lambasting a sport he doesn't watch....totally effing clueless on the reasons for the so called "antics" that NASCAR does.... anyone one that doesn't understand the reason for a green white check is an idiot... Almost every track we race at anymore does not race back to the yellow.... it is ignorant to think you should and if that's the way the indy cars do it then fine, let them kill themselves by the dozens, doesn't mean thinking racers have to follow morons...

The reason GWC shouldn't be done in the major sanctions is because they ARE professionals. That is/was one more thing that separates the big time from the local short tracks.

Plus, I don't like false advertising, and when they run 410 miles and advertise the race as being a 400 mile race that is false advertising.

I think your right on the mark with that evaluation. The things Larson did on the dirt were nothing short of miraculous. Winning all 3 USAC A-main's of the 4 Crown Nationals at Eldora in one night having never seen the place is about as good as it gets.

I too would rather see Larson take 2nd behind Kenseth and not do the chicken sh!t bump & run, or turn him. It takes no talent and even less guts to do that BS.

The reason for the GWC is that NASCAR and some of the fans they have left enjoy gimmicks and they hated seeing their inspiration, Earnhardt Jr. get beat by Gordo due to a late caution at Talladega. The "effing clueless" ones were the hundreds of genetic deficient's throwing full beers at Gordo! LOL!! Ya' wanna' talk ignorant moron's, there's a prime example for ya'. In over 30 years we've never seen that phenomenon at Indy and we've witnessed more than one 500 end with the yellow and checkers in the air at the same time. Still LOL!!!

Our primary concern isn't with what NASCAR does, we just hope and pray that their gimmicks aren't considered by the sanctioning bodies of the racing that we're still interested in. So far there hasn't been any support for the NASCAR type gimmicks in the racing that we're primarily interested in and our interest will continue at the present degree if that situation remains as it is. The dirt tracks have always finished their races under green so they can't be infected.

yes the type of races you go to finish under green but, if they finished under yellow all the time fans would start to get pissed and would want them to finish under green

Considering they finish most races under green is because they're separated by a quarter lap and about 3 cars on the lead lap... long train, short of cars.... but if that's what you like, go for it, just not my cup o tea...
