    GUILTY as charged !

As you may or may not know by some of my recent posts that I have been trying as much as possible to avoid watching any NASCAR events since the beginning of their demise with the chase, green white checkers, mystery cautions for a penny laying on the racetrack etc. And as I have mentioned before that my better half is a major Jimmy Johnson fan. To those means I was involved in watching the Nascar event on the high banked concrete track in the city of Dover in the state of Delaware. I will not be afraid to tell anybody that it was as good at the end as any venue that I had seen in a long time. To my amazement the race had come down to a long green flag run with the 3 major principals being Kyle Larson, rookie Chase Elliott, and Matt Kenseth. There was no hi jinks at the end to predetermine the winner it appeared.

It was a very good race. I was pulling for Larson to win his first.

I was torn between the 1st 3 in line in the final laps. I'd a liked Chase Elliott or Kyle Larson to win their 1st win but then I like to pull for Matt Kenseth after the incident with Logano which Nascar blatantly cornholed the 20 team.

The Green-white-checker gimmick was enacted as a knee jerk capitulation by NASCAR to full beer can throwing spectators, primarily at Talladega and primarily Dale Earnhardt Jr. fans who were pissed because Jeff Gordon had won a race there beating Earnhardt Jr and the race finished under yellow but not more than the advertised race distance.

Green-white-checker finishes have destroyed more racing equipment by far than any other NASCAR gimmick.

The rule renders advertised race mileage/laps false on those occasions when they exceed the advertised distance thus forcing NASCAR and their affiliate tracks to perpetrate some degree of fraud when advertising their race distances.

Did GWC stain the finish today, hopefully not.

You're being cheated, for example, when the advertised distance is 400 miles on a 2 mile track but due to GWC the distance ends up actually being 408 or 410 miles. Circumstances will play out differently by adhering to the advertised distance than they would if the race goes an additional 8, 10 or 12 miles, thus in some instances the final results end up being much different than if the race ends at the correct distance.

Thus, a bit of fraud is evident.

The reason GWC shouldn't be done in the major sanctions is because they ARE professionals. That is/was one more thing that separates the big time from the local short tracks.

Plus, I don't like false advertising, and when they run 410 miles and advertise the race as being a 400 mile race that is false advertising.

NASCAR adhered to their advertised distances for 60 years without seeing any need to defraud their fans but all it took was a few dozen hillbillies 3 sheets to the wind throwing full beer cans onto the track in drunken protest of their perception that their hero got screwed out of a victory.

Kind of a silly reason to enact a gimmick, but that's NASCAR for ya'!

The GWC was what the fans wanted so, NASCAR gave the fans what they wanted. They hated the fact the races would finish under yellow. As far as I'm concerned it has tore up some cars but, it has also created some good finishes.

The race today was a pretty good race. I would have like to seen Larson or Chase win
