I say, let them juice. If they can make them tires last another race, more power to them. If they can make them tires fast enough to by a new set, More power to them. If everyone can do it, it don't get any more fair. If there is a chemical they feel is harmful, list it and ban it specifically. That should make it easy to catch, instead of a vague broad encompassing rule. Rles are not good, if you can't enforce them.

Almost every racer I ever knew hocked his 53 corvette or cabin cruiser or second mortgaged his house to buy that race car. No, they can't afford that tire bill to enter a race. Just look at the asphalt guys, if you can find them. The touring series's and tracks may cut off their nose, to spite their face, with these tire rules. If they continue on this path, they will have around 30 cars, that are guaranteed to race and no fans in the stands. Jst look at history. NASCAR first came out with the winners circle. Ten cars guaranteed to race. WOO had th Dirty dozen, LOLM has their provisional s. NASCAR makes it almost impossible for a new team because of the franchised type deal in place. Soon the dirt racing will go to that also. Money talks, BS walks. To room for the little guy. Talent won't get you a place to race, money will. The only thing I ask, is why they keep making the same mistake? The answer is, someone gets that money and it's darn hard to vote against your own pocket book.

Under the rules you guys are talking about they couldn't follow say the WoO Mid Atlantic Swing from Delaware, to Potomac, to Winchester, to Eriez without buying 4-6 new tires at each race. They couldn't even use those Delaware tires to run at Potomac with, etc. Do you think they are all currently buying 16-24 new tires for that weekend? I can bet you half of the local guys who ran with them bought maybe 6 tires total and used a bunch of tires they already had to run those first three races (where they got so much local support)

I don't think even a fraction of the drivers out there are treating their tires. I think a lot of drivers are always looking for an edge and operate outside the rule book on a regular basis but not something that is so regularly teched and caught.
I'm only using the argument that " they all do it" to show just how deep the "head in the sand" guys have it.....in all of the diatribe back and forth between the two trains of thought( guilty or innocent) almost everyone to a man on the side of guilt have stated that they all treat tires illegally......and by all, I mean ALL.
it's been stated many many times , and if not mistaken even by you a couple times.

You and I both know the " they all cheat tires" is not true, but if they are going to argue on that side I'm certainly going to use it against them in my rebuttal.

And all I'm saying on the chassis deal is this.......if they can afford to spend 90k on a package to go local racing , they can dam sure afford to buy tires( which will be at a discounted rate from the sanction because of the shear volume they will be buying) to go race the thing when the big guys come to town.

The sky is not falling chicken little.

Jeff , I've been going racing since the 60s.........there isn't a whole lot you can tell me about racing in general.

So you are saying the tire deal in asphalt is solely what lead them to where they are today???trying to understand where you are going before I give you an accurate reply.

Because if your claim is that tires only ruined asphalt racing , it's going to be an embarrassing thread for you..

Those are the guys who will be pushed out of competition, and that is very bad for the sport. Some of those guys look forward all year to running with their favorite drivers who they watch on DoD and wherever else. Now instead of using tires they already have they have to roll in and drop a weeks salary just on tires.

              Thanks,
              Jeff.
Should John Doe really be running a 2007 rocket against the woo or Lucas guys in 2016 anyway???
And let's be honest.....the local guys that run with the woo or Lucas guys aren't running the 2007 rockets.....the ones that run the Lucas ,woo shows have those 45k xr1 pieces that dominate the local scene.

Again , we both know that.....

I do a lot of reading on racing boards And Jeff is right a lot of the asphalt boys have said that they have stopped racing when they had to buy 600 to 700 Bucks in tire for ever race.. were be for they could use them for 4 to 6 races .. Left front some races could get 6 or 7 races out of them ..Then you now have to buy 1 every race .. Just Stupid...

Think about it 25 races 600 each race 18000 bucks for tires. 25 races use 6 sets over 25 races 3600 bucks. or even 7 sets 4200 bucks..over 25 races 13800 bucks lost for some thats a bank beaker...13800 bucks lots of money for a small time racer...Know how meany times I have heard a driver say if i was here to make money I not be here...

I don't disagree that the tire rule in asphalt is one of MANY reasons asphalt racing is where it is today.........but it's certainly not the only reason as Jeff would have us all believe.

When you get down to the basics, What everyone would like is a cheap way to a even playing field. Buying tires at every race would not be cheap, nor even, as some would have to sit out. One of the great things about Dirt Late Model racing is, The amateur can fulfill his dream by racing with the pro. It was this way when NASCAR started. You could shake the hayseeds out of your cuffs and go kick A$$. They ruled the little guy out. Do we want this for our sport? They have ruled the little guy out of Baseball, Basketball, Football, Soccer and pavement racing. Do you want it where a Terry Phillips, Jacky Boggs or Jimmy Marrs can't go race at Eldora or Knoxville since they don't race a series? That is where these kinds of rules lead. Think about it for a minute. Meanwhile, get a good football team together and see about getting a spot on the schedule. We do have something special. Why risk loosing it?

You may well be right, that it's not the only reason, but it may have been the straw that broke the camel's back. Why make any of those straws, rules if they are going to hurt the sport. It's just common sense. If they did it and it didn't work, why should we?

I have never said they all soak tires, I have said they all bend the rules in one way or the other, to the point that if they were caught it would result in a DQ. The vast majority of drivers don't do anything crazy but 1/8 of an inch here, or what not. I can go to the average Modified race and point out 5 cars that are in violation of the body rules in one way or the other. How many people know a Street Stock driver with 1st gear removed to lighten the car up. They don't check that stuff every week (and in many cases not at all ever) and the drivers know it.

There's absolutely more local weekly runners running a used roller and with a secondhand big name engine that are a blown motor away from ending their season than there are guys in brand new XR1s or Longhorns with a couple brand new Durham or Cornett motors in the shop. 4M doesn't really seem to get this.
