Bloomquist/Owens Lawsuit and World 100 Predictions
The article is about the World 100, which is the race I was referring to. If smaller teams worry about 8-12 new tires, they probly shouldn't be going.

I agree. Issuing/buying tires at the track will be coming sooner rather than later regardless of the outcome of this lawsuit. I think Lucas and WRG will see this as an opportunity to be pro-active before things get totally out of hand with both tire altering and potential lawsuits. I’ll be surprised if it’s not for all series races by 2018, once the logistics are worked out.
We have a car count thread every year where people complain about the current car counts, you expect that those same people will continue to pay for premium priced tickets with even less cars? The sport currently needs every car we can get at every race we can get. The only thing that will happen when the car count goes down is the fan count will go down, and then the track will have to make up that loss by passing on additional expenses to the remaining drivers.
True enough on the regional guys coming with used tires on the truck.......I guess I'm having a hard time figuring out if it's cheaper for them to buy the 6 from the track untouched or buy the amount of undetectable prep , the tools to prep them with, the rotisserie , the electricity to run the tools and just the overall pain in the butt it is to do all that and then the costs associated from buying the tire they prep initially.
Then factor in all of these dr. Visits from all of these health implications everybody keeps talking about with prep and it's a no brainer......just buy the new tires from the track and skip all of that.
I really can't imagine there being a whole lot of cost differences when you factor all that in........
On the Mark Richards thing.........he is still going to sell all the regional chassis he can make, and I think you know that.
Grass roots guys are buying used rockets......not the 45 k xr1s
Well since prep is illegal they could just not prep their tires.
I see a lot of "Grassroots" guys buying XR1's. I count at least 4-5 at every single local race I visit. I've even seen a few XR1 Limited Late Models around here. With that said I'm telling you from watching asphalt racing, if they go to selling tires at the track for all series races you will see a bunch of guys never run National races and more still just quitting -- especially if more than just the two national tours went that route. People already complain about $100 entry fees, can you imagine that + a $600-$900 tire bill for EVERY race no matter what? (Whether you qualify or not)

Thanks,
Jeff.
If grass roots guys are buying 45 k xr1 then they can afford to also buy tires to race on them.......don't you think?
If they can't , should they really be buying brand new pieces to race against the touring guys.
And Jeff, it's long been established that they all do the tire soaking thing.......that ship has sailed.

It's not the ONLY thing that will or could happen.......why always so gloom and doom when things don't fit your criteria as credible?
the expense the tire dealer will have overhead would make it impossible for them to make a profit to be at every race track would be total nonsense they do not make great profit being at at a race track the benefit of them being there is changing tires sure they will sell you a tire and you will have to pay a little more to pay for the labor and the name of being there but there is a lot of liability that goes with it plus obamacare added in it.

Well what were they supposed to drive? Grassroots guys shouldnt buy a new chassis? They always have. Do you think just because they spent a one time cost of $40k that they don't care if they have to spend $3k just on tires to follow the WoO or LOLMDS for a 3 race weekend? Under the rules you guys are talking about they couldn't follow say the WoO Mid Atlantic Swing from Delaware, to Potomac, to Winchester, to Eriez without buying 4-6 new tires at each race. They couldn't even use those Delaware tires to run at Potomac with, etc. Do you think they are all currently buying 16-24 new tires for that weekend? I can bet you half of the local guys who ran with them bought maybe 6 tires total and used a bunch of tires they already had to run those first three races (where they got so much local support)
I don't think even a fraction of the drivers out there are treating their tires. I think a lot of drivers are always looking for an edge and operate outside the rule book on a regular basis but not something that is so regularly teched and caught.
45k chassis.....40k motor.....all to race grass roots for 1500 to win???
I'm pretty sure those guys can afford to buy new tires to race with the big boys a couple times per year......or at least their sponsors can.
This conversation isn't just about those guys either. Mark Richards has a vested interest in seeing those guys with deep pockets still running, but he also does updates and repairs on John Doe's 2007 Rocket that he runs in the LOLMDS and WoO shows at his local tracks. Those are the guys who will be pushed out of competition, and that is very bad for the sport. Some of those guys look forward all year to running with their favorite drivers who they watch on DoD and wherever else. Now instead of using tires they already have they have to roll in and drop a weeks salary just on tires.
Mark Richards has all the reason in the world to be griping, he makes his living off selling chassis to his (mostly grassroots level) customers who are not the touring guys. If they can't afford to race they won't be buying any chassis off of him. I don't think it would really hurt the house car itself, but I do think it would hurt their business. I'm sure there are plenty of guys who show up to an LOLMDS show or WoO show with maybe a couple new tires and a big used inventory.
If Mark was so worried about things, maybe he should try cutting the costs of his cars? And you are correct, nothing is going to hurt the house car because it is one of the most financially backed teams in DLM racing (if not the most).
