So out of the thousands and thousands of slm drivers in the country, exactly how many of them try to run with the big guys when they come to town.

I have to imagine the percentages are tiny.......the segment of drivers that you are going to bat for is admiral, but the number is negligible........and believe me, if those same guys want to run the show, they will figure out a way how too.

And again, you can't keep your finger in the " lets just keep on doing it the way we always have" much longer......you will get washed down stream when the dam breaks.

And I'm not really talking you specifically, just the guys that say everything is fine, nothing to see here.
Where is the move over flag when you need it?????

While you may be well versed in that side of racing there are hundreds of others who read this post and all of the others in this thread who are not.
So it's all how I read them and has nothing to do with the way you write them?

I'm not at all surprised that you would say that........not at all.

Depending on the track, 25% to 50% of the track locals give it a shot.

The real danger is the local track almost always adopts the series rules and procedures. See everyone taking the Rumley rules or how many tracks are now running Lucas tire rules. Local tracks going to no cut tires or making guys buy at the track would shut a lot of folks out.

To hear you say it , it's like all the local guys will be following the woo and being forced to buy 1000 dollars worth of tires a week

Realistically how many return visits to a track or a region do the two major tours go to for this discussion to even continue.......if a local guy that owns one of these 45 k xr1 setups that you say you see all the time up there( even in the llm division I believe you said) can't afford to race the one time they come to his region because he has to buy new tires instead of buying prep and all that comes with it to run his used tires, then no......he has no business being out there with them.

We can go on and on if you like , but the facts are ( if you are sticking with your argument of knocking the little guy out) is that you are talking the rare exception instead of the overwhelming majority.

The good local guy will find a way.
The good regional guys( Stovall, covert,Roberts, franklin, fergy etc.) already have a way.
The touring guys already have a way.

The guys your talking about in the 2007 rockets ........will never find a way to do it consistently nor are they even trying to......and as much as I love guys like Mike hammerlee, even he will tell you he knows his budgetary limits and will pick and choose what he can afford.

It would be great if everybody that wanted to race slm could, but this isn't just a participation sport where everybody gets a trophy and there is no DLM version of obamacare currently in place.......so no everybody isn't equal in dirt racing, it's the reason we have so many classes of them........to give the guys you're talking about a place to run that they can afford.

I understand your point, don't at all agree with most of it.....that's all.
Alright, I'm done arguing this with you because you are literally just not even comprehending my posts. I don't understand how anybody could think (in a sport where even the most well funded teams complain about the costs) that this is something that will benefit the sport in any way. Obviously there are other people (Who are much more prominent in the sport) who share the same concerns so I'm not really worried about it happening.

The sky is falling, the sky is falling..............dirt late model racing is done.

Is that what you really mean?

I really think the negative nannies are just overthinking it......and I really don't see the local tracks changing much if anything on tires for the weekly shows.

Some test, some don't......and all the drivers cheat them up locally.

                  Nothing will change there, IMO.

I haven't seen this much speculative assumption on unintended consequences since I quit playing the market so much.......

im anxious to see how discovery plays out and see just how dirty either side really is.....if they are at all.

I have seen enough of the catering to 20 elite teams hurting the other 1000 to know the tail wags the dog in DLM racing these days. And it doesn't help much of anyone.

We don't run slm Josh( that was just a poor assumption on your part)but at a 10k package in our class our guys are still underfunded and know exactly what it is to be on a shoestring budget against guys that buy wins.

And I said we were competitive???( even though we are because of the drivers talent) I don't recall ever saying it.

Believe it is you Josh that needs to keep up a little better.

You really love to move the gaolposts when you're called out on your bulls*it. I'm not even mad, that's kind of impressive.

And I totally respect that and agree with what you are saying..........but they can say what they want, if races keep getting decided 4 or 5 days after they are actually run then sooner or later they will be run with just the crew and officials watching.....smart fans just aren't going to put up the cash anymore to come and watch stuff like that.

I wish I had the magic bullet, but I don't..........other than to say just let them run open.

Of course then you would have the " participation award racers" complaining that the bigger teams can just outspend them on prep.

I had no idea that this sport was full of so many racing sommeliers.
