I was at the Million last year. And it was one of the best races I seen all year. 4 or 5 lead changes... Racing all over the track... And the winner pitted like 3 different times. I'm not sure how anybody could not like that. And it was the biggest payout of the year. And some people think that's a bad thing?

      Tireguy17- ??
What am I missing here? Why would you want the Mansfield race to be a failure? I know many people don’t agree with the race (million) name but- “glad to see it loosing steam” statement confuses me if you are a fan of dirt racing. Is it the purse format, race name or Cody that you don’t care for? Not trying to start anything- just curious.
I attended last year -enjoyed it & will be there in a few weeks for all 3 nights! 🏁🏁

Its the crowdfunding structure that bugs me manly. We all buy tickets, camping, food, souvenirs when we goto any race, and we know that every purchase contributes to the purse for the event. But leave it at that. The format encourages drivers/teams to beg for a fans dollars to be designated to them to hopefully win a provisional. From a promoting aspect it's pretty clever, it generates traffic for your event. And that's always been my concern on top of the things I mentioned above, that this structure would be successful and more promoters would adopt it.

I don't want the race to fail, just the structure for the sake of the sport. Its just my opinion.

            THANKS - for your reply!
I understand now where your train of thoughts are. 👍🏻
I guess it’s something different Cody does to bump the purse up.
I personally don’t contribute any $$ to the drivers fund- just buy my tickets -motel rooms, food, & 7 hrs. Of gas $$. I do see your point on buying your way in thru the $$ raised format. But in the same token: all Lucas Oil regulars will make the race (emergency provisionals) like all WOO regulars made the PDClassic this past week-end. Many better cars didn’t make the show than a couple of the points back markers. It’s the series way of rewarding the tour guys with perfect attendance. It does generate different perspectives on the subject. I have mixed feelings about the fans fund at Cedar Lake. I think it was originally created to help drivers who otherwise wouldn’t be there. Now it seems to have changed to a popularity vote ?? 🏁🏁

I think you are wrong about the provisionals.

Only thursday and friday will provisionals be used.

If you do not make the big show on Saturday, the only way you make the show is if you are one of the top 5 fans vote drivers...

Cody just isn't that good of a promoter. Whatever happened to the online store that was supposed to be like Amazon, but your purchases would go towards the Million purse? He seems to have some different ideas but never follows through on them. There is also a communication barrier between the fans and the track, that doesn't help. I look for this year to be the last Million and it will be replaced by a 100,000 to win show.

Everyone has a right to their opinion...
Here's mine (and I am all for anything that allows dirt racing exposure and continued growth).
Last year the ONLY racing that was good, was the actual Dirt Million race.
There was a lot of choo-choo action in heat races.
Glad they worked the track to make it competitive for the big race.
The absolute boulders buried under that dirt was downright scary. I wouldn't take your kids unless they have full body coverage.
The actual vending was average at best. I've been to so many tracks, and I was very unimpressed.
I said last year that the first year would be the largest payout and following years would continue to be less.
This race will never be a true "Dirt Million" (not by a long shot).
If they can get the track working well, and remove all the missles flying into the crowd, I'll give it another chance in 2020.
Gateway...just not interested. Went the first year, and I just don't like watching super late models on a 1/5 mile track that is flat as a pancake. To each their own.

I'll stick with races like Show Me, World, N/S, I-80, Knoxville, Cedar Lake, andPDC.

I am hoping the new dirt will alleviate the rock issues! We will soon see. 🏁🏁

the big question around the Mansfield area is if Cody will lease the track or even buy it after this year. This is the last year of the lease with Mr Milliron.

Did last year's race have it's share of problems yes no one can say it didn't. Hopefully Cody got the rock issue took care of and they have a better understanding of how to work the track so it's more Racey all three nights. I hope they make little tweaks to the format to make it better year after year.

I don't personally hunt, I just know that when they announced the date, many people instantly started talking about it being 2nd season. I believe the shotguns only get 2 weekends.
