Attica has a show late in August or early September with Lucas Oil late models and All-Sprints. For about $35. It's a very well run show and a good track.

TV use to be a big thing even tape delayed events but today there are to many ways to watch an event live or replayed a few hours after the checkered falls. I never hear anyone say there is a race coming on TV that they want to watch Lucas or any other tape delayed events. But I do hear some say they are going to watch a PPV or a live event like the Chili Bowel. Most want to see races as they happen today not 2 months later. The world has changed even the dirt late model world.

I have read on this post that Mark Richards complains to Outlaws officials often. More than Bloonquist to Lucas officials? I doubt it. I also read on here that the Outlaws would be gone in a few years, and that Lucas has a major corporation backing them. The world of Outlaws Sprints is the biggest series on dirt. And it's not even close. I will give you that Lucas Oil late models is second, Outlaws late models is probably third. UMP is probably 4th. That means the 1st,3rd, and 4th largest are all the same company, world racing group. Outlaws late models are not going anywhere. What is the age on old man Lucas? Will the future CEO or marketing guy will want to spend all this money on racing or football stadiums etc. Lucas has done a great job. But, when you think about what Outlaws pay out in Late models and sprints, and what UMP pays out for the Hell tour and National championships and regional championships and state titles in how many different divisions. It kinda makes Lucas oil look like the small fish of all the dirt touring series. Luckily for me I live in Ohio so I am less than 3.5 hours from the Dream, World, Kings Royal, DTWC, 50k race at Atomic, the North/South, Firecracker and a half dozen hell tour races, All Star sprints. I like all of it. Just wanted to argue the other side.

Richards and Bloomquist were the driving force to start the WOO late models. Without those two back in day when it started dirt late model racing probably would not be the same as it has been over the last 15 years. Talking to drivers at WoO and Lucas events over the years I have heard other people's name mentioned more as complainers than Richards or Bloomquist.

It's more like 3 or 4. If fans knew some of these guys for who they really are they would have a whole different opinion. Some are good actors in public so they can sell tee shirts.

If it's the two I'm thinking of, they whine like crazy at local shows and don't win there either.

For those of us who don't follow the individual drivers that closely or speak with them in the pits, do you all care to share? We talk about everyone else in the world around here.

I sort of like the WoO Late Model Series so to all you Lucas Oil diehards, go screw yourselves!

LOL! Good for you, man! Always like when someone has the balls to flip off the crowd.

I don't think anyone hates WoO, do they? They sanction one of the largest Late Model series. They may have flaws, but what organization doesn't?

The real facts are, Late Model Dirt racing can't afford to loose any series. There is little chance that anyone has to choose between either of these series. They are not in the same area, at the same time very often. The thing that will kill LM racing is the demise of the Weekly LM and regional series races. No one is going to a 10 to 12 car race for long. They need the support of the racers that don't travel very far. Anything they can do to help these regional shows, will help the two traveling series right now. Even dumming down of LM to Crate or limited LM hasn't worked so well in the support in those areas. It's apples and oranges and too difficult to switch back and forth. One of the Draws that these traveling series has, is the opportunity of the local driver to get the chance to beat the big boys. They carry a lot of local fans and interest in these races, or lack of interest as the case may be. They don't need to be crates. They don't need to be open. They just need to be all on the same page. This is one reason a unified rules package and enforcement is critical to keep the sport healthy.

                            That's a fact.

I agree completely with everything you say... But adding more rules that don't get teched on the local level will cause more diversity with locals vs national travelers.

The 1 rule that keeps the locals away is the tire rule. Locals will not pay the money for there tires for 1 race.
