race tires can sit on the shelf and loose chemical element if not wrapped and stored in dark cool place this has been known to racing for decades.

And that's why they are wrapped.

You don't have to pass 9th grade science to know that a chemical can evaporate over time. That's why it's impossible to chemically alter a tire by accidentally getting some type of cleaner on it. Itll evaporate before it can soak in. Furthermore running laps on a racetrack will shred any more evidence of "accidentally" soaking a tire.

Unless they grind it on from someone else's tainted rubber that's on the track......and it's far from impossible for a tire coming back hot because of cleaner used.

Yes I saw that..... The video also showed that putting anything on an exposed tire(not wrapped) will evaporate over time. And if you are using anything that's a petroleum base/degreaser like WD40 and Dawn, you are a complete idiot.

Skip thru the first 3 or 4 minutes of the West plains tire sniffing video and it does have some interesting info.That is the first time I have ever seen useful info about tire sniffing.
