This is an anti-discrimination (ironically, the gays claim Phil was being discriminatory toward them....how, I have no idea). Federal law says you cannot fire someone for their religious beliefs. I assume no contract can trump federal law.

I am not saying homosexuality, adultery, etc are fine. I am merely pointing out that when asked what was most important:

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Bible also says that "he who is without sin, cast the first stone." Bible says "you are so preoccupied with the speck in someone else's eye, you do not see the log in your own!" Bible also says "Be ye kind, one to another, tender hearted, forgiving one another, just as God for Christ's sake has forgiven you." That's Ephesians 4:32.

And here is the big one that pops out at me in this issue. "Judge not, lest ye be judged." Wow. Phil was asked what his take was on something, he used it as an opportunity to offer his opinion and then elaborated and used scripture to bolster his argument and passing judgment on others, and BOOM! It blew up in his face.

He could of used the opportunity to talk about HIS sin, and how God forgave HIM and maybe made an impression somewhere on someone for the better. You know, "wow, if God can forgive the drunken dope head, turn his life around and love him, then maybe he can love me too..."

Instead he just gave more ammunition to those who already hold the church in low regard and made Christians look even more like judgmental dictators bashing people with their bibles and scripture. He offered no hope, no love of Christ, just a scathing "they are all going to hell, man" reply. I don't think his message was one of loving your neighbor, nor did it show the love of God he professes.

Now that there may no longer be a show, and currently there is no Phil Robertson being filmed for future episodes, it would be reasonable to conclude that God wasn't for it any more. At least not with Phil in it.

Judge not is concerning Believers judging one another. No Christian should judge another individual. However bad behavior should be judged, especially what God calls bad behavior in the Bible. The true Church doctrine teaches the door should be open for everyone to enter and hear the Gospel. However that doesn't mean people enter the Church gathering with their own agenda. What was sin in the beginning of creation of Man, is still sin today. God is NOT a progress. HE speaks in this manner. "I change not"

Guess what. When people put God first (love the Lord your God with all your heart....) they THEN realize that they are sinful and need what Jesus did on the cross in order to be forgiven. They do NOT condone and rationalize sin (in this case, homosexuality) and continue to live in a way that is an abomination according to God. That's why this is "most important", because IF a person actually does it, the rest will naturally follow.

You got part of it right. He used scripture, but he wasn't passing judgement. He was pointing out God's judgement which is plain to see if you read it. Get the FULL interview and others. He said he loves his fellow man and realizes where he himself came from, so he doesn't judge them.

You obviously only read/hear what you want to hear. Phil has said MANY times exactly that (watch the TBN video in this thread). He was as big a sinner as there is and God turned his life around once he confessed those sins and accepted Christ. He has never once judged these people. He has simply quoted (loosely) scripture that refers to them and their lifestyle.

Another quote from the interview that you apparently chose to ignore.

"We never, ever judge someone on who's going to heaven, hell. That's the Almighty's job," he added. "We just love 'em, give 'em the good news about Jesus, whether they're homosexuals, drunks, terrorists. We let God sort 'em out later, you see what I'm saying?"

Nevertheless, the show DID happen, and it IS successful, so what he said came to pass. What you are saying would be like saying that Seinfeld wasn't a successful show because it isn't on anymore.

I don't believe the show is over. But, even if it is, the Robertsons will be just fine. They don't need the fame and fortune. They have said as much many times. For everything there is a time and a season.

Phil Robertson's words. Judgment. Spin it however you want, but he falls into that category of Christian who wants to spread his arms like Christ and proclaim things as though they were given to him to bestow upon the rest of us. It just looks arrogant and pious and holier than thou to me. I don't see God in him, I see him elevating himself to being God's chosen one to tell us all how it is and what is wrong with everyone else.

Want to give testimony? Talk about what God did for you. Don't tell everyone who is going to hell and who isn't. Fact is, Phil Robertson has no better idea what is in another man's heart than we do what's in his. I'll give you that much. But he is judging others, so let him take the judgment of others on him.

And to TS Fan, the closing of Matthew 7, the chapter that tells believes not to judge others, as they will be judged:

28 When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, 29 because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.

Crowds, TS Fan. Crowds. This was a sermon preached to all who would listen, not specifically to only his Disciples. He was instructing everyone on how to conduct themselves and he did not say "Christians, don't judge other Christians, lest other Christians judge you." That is NOT what he said.

Funny thing is, when you preach love to people, few people are offended. However, if you start pointing fingers, it gets everyone riled up. So maybe the message should be God loves you, not "here's the list of people God is going to condemn to hell, please check the box next to your sin."

If that is the message, then we are ALL on that list and have a box to check with our name and list of sins next to it.
