They didn't wreck, that was a good thing. Maybe they are getting smarter about the last lap. If you are not in a position to win, I charge in the middle of the pack wildly and wreck your car? With points being less important, maybe they will not be quite as crazy at the end of plate races.

We did watch it, all of it. We even walked out into the backyard at my in-laws house just to hear the roar of the engines, live from several miles away! LOL!

Made it to Volusia for the late models early in the week and finished out Speedweeks at Bubba Raceway Park over in Ocala for the USAC National 410 wingless sprint cars. Every night at the dirt tracks was great racing except for Thursday night at Bubba which was a rubbered up sprint car train. That happens once in a while at the Florida dirt tracks.

Once again this year we didn't set foot on ISC property and after watching the DVR recordings of the DIS proceedings we are happy to say we didn't miss a thing............again.

We watched all the races on TV starting with the ARCA race the weekend before the 500. We've been coming down here for well over 20 years. In fact the first 2 or 3 500's we went to were run without restrictor plates, pit road speedlimits, lucky dog, GWC or win and you're in the lame ass chase. Undeniably that was REAL racin' as opposed to the gimmicked up BS they pass off for racin' the last 10 years.

We have a long standing tradition and a certain degree of affection for being in Daytona for Speedweeks and that's where the interest comes from. That, along with the desire to follow the results of the many notable dirt drivers that have made the jump to their own personal promised land. Larson, Rico and Bell are the most notable these days. We watched all the Daytona stuff but won't bother watching much until the July race back at Daytona.

I wish Nascar had never gone to Indy either. Indy is Indy and will always be the greatest race of the year. I do like Nascar more these days except for that race. Indy cars on circle tracks are great to watch, road courses, not so much. JMO

I did not care for watching that young man roll over thirteen times at the stupid aerial show at Daytona.

TS, couldn't have been said any better. TS, I'll apologize up front for so vehemently agreeing with you on this one. I know isn't good for your image! LOL!

In all fairness comparing Indy cars and NASCAR at Indianapolis is not a good comparison. Now if you want to compare them to Daytona for the sprint cup and Indy cars at Indianapolis that would be a better comparison.

I Wish NASCAR would have never went to Indianapolis and they need to stop going now.

Kid, I was at the very first tire test NASCAR held at Indy in June of 1993 the day after the Michigan race of that year. We drove down from Brooklyn to Indy, spent Sunday night in Speedway and went to the track Monday morning for the tire test. Everyone was excited about the NASCAR boys being at Indy and they had an overflow crowd of the stands they allowed to be open for seating that day JUST FOR A TIRE TEST! I remember Rusty Wallace made the first lap around the world famous IMS that day.

That having been said, after peeling away the layers of excitement it should have been evident with the first lap of that tire test that the taxi cabs weren't suited for the Brickyard. You and TS are dead solid correct on that count.

I don't know how to say this any more kind, I just don't care for that style of racing...that all...unlike you I'll not bash them or their fans... or their management or anyone associated with them.... I'm sure they do the very best they can and that's just oaky dokey by me...

No bashing, just the truth. The oval track racing in Indy Car is second to none in side by side competition and those that say it's boring have an ax to grind and aren't being truthful. Not saying it's everyone's cup of tea, but boring, it is absolutely not

Besides the obvious draw of some of the best racing to be seen anywhere on an oval racetrack Indy Car doesn't have near as many useless gimmicks. No lucky dog, no overtime (GWC), and most important of all, NO CHASE!

Much more pure competition unsoiled by gimmicks.

Come on Muddy ol' buddy, I admitted to watching the last 12 or 13 races last year to cheer on the new NASCAR legend to his first illegitimate championship and I always watch The Daytona 500, if for no other reason but old times sake. So for those reasons alone you can't say I never watch, cause obviously that would be untrue. LOL!

So, prey tell, what else do you perceive to be untrue?

Speaking of IndyCar racing............I just heard today they are back to Phoenix in April after being away for 10 yrs. Might go down and check it out.
