They didn't hate the fact that the races finished at the advertised distances, they hated the fact that Earnhardt jr. got beat by Jeff Gordon at Talladega because the race ended at the advertised distance. Then, in their irrational drunken state of mind they threw perfectly good beer onto the racetrack. LOL!Originally posted by kidrock View PostThe GWC was what the fans wanted so, NASCAR gave the fans what they wanted. They hated the fact the races would finish under yellow. As far as I'm concerned it has tore up some cars but, it has also created some good finishes.
The race today was a pretty good race. I would have like to seen Larson or Chase win
The problem with the GWC is akin to some of the other grievances that resulted in unneeded rules changes, better known as NASCAR gimmicks. The grievances were promptly addressed by NASCAR. Most of the people voicing the grievances are now uninterested in NASCAR and now NASCAR is left holding the bag with gimmicks and a fandom devoid of all those fans that desperately wanted the gimmicks enacted. They're all gone but the gimmicks live on.
Kid, where did Larson finish?Last edited by CIRF; 05-15-2016, 09:13 PM.

When advertising the race distances NASCAR should be forced to state that they don't know what the exact distance will be. For example, if the race has a minimum distance of 400 miles then state that the distance will be 400 miles or longer contingent upon the occurrence of a caution or red flag in relation to the end of the race.
The best Indy 500 I've seen of all 31 we've attended (2013 won by Tony Kanaan) ended with the yellow and checker being displayed simultaneously. The fact that the race ended at it's advertised distance was in no way detrimental to the degree of entertainment quality. It was neither anti-climactic or unfair in any way. Tony Kanaan won the Indianapolis 500, not the Indianapolis 507.5, or 510, etc.
No fraud involved, I like that.Last edited by CIRF; 05-16-2016, 09:18 AM.

If memory serves me right it wasn't just about Jr but, yes they weren't happy about that as well but, they weren't happy in general with races finishing under yellow. most people don't like to see races finish under yellow no matter what type of race you are atOriginally posted by CIRF View PostThey didn't hate the fact that the races finished at the advertised distances, they hated the fact that Earnhardt jr. got beat by Jeff Gordon at Talladega because the race ended at the advertised distance. Kid, where did Larson finish?
Well I guess it really doesn't matter for those who don't watch anymore. They don't have to worry about any gimmicks that NASCAR puts out there. That's left to us fans who watch to debate.
He finished 2nd and put on a good show. He should have won the race. He just couldn't finish the deal but should have. He had the better car. I think he should ha e been a little more patient but, he had Chase on his azz and actually chase passed him at one point and Larson got back by him and made another run at Matt but, just came up short.Last edited by kidrock; 05-15-2016, 09:34 PM.

Our primary concern isn't with what NASCAR does, we just hope and pray that their gimmicks aren't considered by the sanctioning bodies of the racing that we're still interested in. So far there hasn't been any support for the NASCAR type gimmicks in the racing that we're primarily interested in and our interest will continue at the present degree if that situation remains as it is. The dirt tracks have always finished their races under green so they can't be infected.Originally posted by kidrock View PostIf memory serves me right it wasn't just about Jr but, yes they weren't happy about that as well but, they weren't happy in general with races finishing under yellow. most people don't like to see races finish under yellow no matter what type of race you are at

Again, where'd Larson finish today?

yes the type of races you go to finish under green but, if they finished under yellow all the time fans would start to get pissed and would want them to finish under green

Message conveyed very well. If they are not to adhere to their advertised distance they should post a disclaimer to say otherwise.Originally posted by CIRF View PostWhen advertising the race distances NASCAR should be forced to state that they don't know what the exact distance will be.
