A young gal named Kersten on Fox News, a liberal, spoke about her losing her insurance due to cancellation and her new policy being 100 to 150 per month higher, she stated that in her case, she didn't have a problem with it cause she could afford it, but could truly feel the pain for the folks and families that were going to get hacked by obummer care. She has been an outspoken advocate for obummer care, now, not so much...she realizes that obummer lied and she freely admits it. Also, news today was that one of the hierarchy in the Democrat party had a son that lost his healthcare via cancellation today...maybe when this stuff hits a little closer to home, the politicians will get their collective chit together.

I'm not sure if he really meant it, but he signed a law that allowed grandfathering of existing plans. What we need to realize is insurance companies wrote this bill and it made life good for them. None of the cost cutting measures that where discussed went into the bill. Things like tort reform and open exchange markets. They got a whole lot of new customers. This must not have been enough. They want those larger premiums form everyone. Sure there are more requirements to meet the standard, but look who wrote the standard. Insurance companies and lawyers. This happens all the time, when the fox guards the chicken house. Wall St. wrote NAFTA for Regan / Clinton. How did that turn out for the middle class? It was good for Wall St. Look who came out on the housing bubble after the banksters wrote the law that removed Glass Stegal, and that isn't over yet. No law was corrected to keep something like that from happening tomorrow.

Yes it is Obama's fault, but no more so than any other politician in Washington or ours for not seeing threw this way of life there and stopping it.

Bubstr, your wrong, this is obama's through and through...They knew in 2010 what was in the law, obummer mentioned it once, and then after that only said the mantra, if you like, you can keep....You can dress it down anyway you want, you have to admit he lied, he knew he lied and rather then come to the public like a man and admit it, he comes out and lies some more..... this is your guy, the one you've been singin' the praises of, and some, maybe you maybe not you, have been lambasting Rush and Sean and Beck for their blasting of this plan and telling the public that this guy was a liar... Turns out they, along with Joe Wilson were right.....Joe wilson has been vindicated....

You can say what ever you want, but when this bill went into effect in 2010 Insurance companies could file and grandfather in policies that did not meet the new criteria. These policies could not be changed, whether individual or group. The insurance companies that canceled policies did not do this. He said you can keep them if you like them. He didn't say you could keep them if the insurance company didn't like them. He!! they didn't like to keep you if you got real sick before 2010. Drop you like a hot potato and you couldn't get insurance.

I wouldn't have either. I would much rather sell you the more expensive policies.

So lets blame insurance companies, Bubstr, right. Its not the goverment imposing its standards on american citizens. As we are too stupid to know what is good and right for us. This ACA is stupid. If I were a 27yr old why would I buy into it. I could pay the fine, and then is something happens to me, I can apply for ACA, as no one can be denied health insurance. It like not having car insurance, then having accident, and buying car insurance to cover accident. Why would a man with no drug or alcohol abuse history be forced to by health care insurance to cover it? Why would a women in her 50-60's have to buy maturnity care. She by nature is unable to have a baby?? He lied and his liberal buddies lied to get the law passed. Simple as that.

I think Obama really failed to make the grandfathering of policies issue clear. He simplified it to "if you like your plan, you can keep it" which strictly speaking under the ACA, you can, but there are a lot of provisions that have to be met with that statement, mostly having to do with insurance companies not changing anything in that old plan. As soon as one thing changes, it is no longer an acceptable policy under the ACA.

What he didn't say or make clear was "If you like your plan and it meets the minimum requirements under the ACA, (which by the way makes a lot of plans that don't cover much and are not good health insurance illegal), then you can keep it. But remember that the ACA is implementing a basic standard that requires insurance to be worthwhile, not just a plan for the sake of a health care plan, so in many cases your insurance company is not going to be allowed to sell you a piece of paper that covers very little. They are now going to have to back that paper up with insurance that pays."

No doubt they blew it on messaging and handed a lot of right wing blowhards a lot of fodder for their uneducated low/no information listeners.

If you're from Illinois, especially the Northern 1/2, and followed the chitcago political scene for a long time or not so long of a time, nothing hussein has said or done is a surprise or out of character for a chitcago politician.

His way, along with those who suround him, of dealing with political adversity has been practiced successfully in chitcago for literally generation after generation of elected officials.

Your right politics in Illinois is the pits. They say anything to get elected and do just as the big money supporters wish. Note, we had some republicans in Springfield and they do the same. It makes it easy to get bitter about all politicians.

Want facts. Obo got the insurance companies together and told them how much money they were going to make, if this law passed. It passes, but now the young people who were supposed to sign up and make the insurance companies rich are unlikely to do it. So now the insurance companies want to know what obo got them into. this is what happened, it is public record. He had to meet with them Nov 5 to lie his way out of what he promised them. Dirt, lies, deception eventually blows up in ones face. You are seeing it happen. Yeah the lying lefties will try to trash and destroy the insurance companies. IN doing so, they think they can get their single payer. Now here is the thing. If you agree with all this strategy then you will be happy. If however, you resent being mislead and lied to? Not so much

First off, I'm not your son. I am far too intelligent to have been sired by someone who can't write a complete sentence with proper punctuation that conveys a coherent thought. So please, don't take credit for what you did not do.

Second, there are plenty of social programs in this nation that work very very well and benefit us all. Of course, since you can't form a complete sentence that conveys a coherent thought, you obviously did not benefit from one of the most common and basic programs we all are supposed to enjoy--public education.

Sorry about your bad luck. On both counts.

It's not spin, it's fact. They blew it on messaging, they didn't make it clear (and yes, probably by design, quite frankly) that many people would lose their existing coverage.

But they probably sat back and said

"Ok, here's the situation. We go out there and get complicated about who gets to keep what, and we get slaughtered with misrepresentations, confusion, misinterpretation, etc. So we gotta keep this simple. Just tell em if you like it, keep it, to keep all that crap at bay until the rubber hits the road. When it does, less than 15% of people will be affected, and in the long game, the overwhelming GOOD will outweigh the short term right wing led shyt storm that will be whipped up when people start getting cancellation letters.

3 years after we start, the whole "controversy" about people losing their coverage will be replaced with lots of people happy with their new coverage that PAYS for stuff, and will forget all about the crap policy that was $50 a month cheaper that left them swinging."

That was what I think was the political calculation in all this. Now if it were me, I would've said what I said above. Especially the part about insurance being more than a piece of paper you pay for, and replacing it with insurance that actually PAYS for something.

Dam right I'm good. Carney better look out..... lolol

I like this guy. He's a equal opportunity political basher. It;s sad that a comedy show makes more sense than regular news media.

Jon Stewart let President Obama have it again for his statements about keeping your health care and doctor on this Tuesday's show, but his real ire was aimed at the talking heads over at Fox who have been lying like motherf**kers about the law day in and day out.
